I have had this BSOD twice in ten minutes. Really looking for a resolution for this BSOD, because my laptop is really being a pain in the a** at the moment.

I also have trouble with listening to audio, it stutters a lot + sometimes drops out completely. I listen to audio using my normal iPhone earpods and via a USB cable.

I am looking forward to your replies. Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Frank.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First is to run Windows Update and install all the update available.
- Once done, do run SFC Scanner.
- Search for Command Prompt, right click on it and select Run as Administrator.
- Once open, type sfc/scannow then press Enter. While until it finish the scan and see if it will solve the issue or not.
- If these steps will not work, proceed with doing a clean install of the graphics card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the graphics driver.
- Next is to open Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to the graphics card driver.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver.
- Reboot the laptop once the latest driver has been installed then test it again.
- If the same problem will persist, do also run a memory test just to make sure everything is working properly.

Dear Laptop_Nerd,

Thanks for the quick reply.
I will run an SFC scan now, and I'll try and follow the other options as well after that.
My laptop runs on two graphic cards. One within the CPU (Intel HD Graphics 4000), and a NVIDIA GeForce 610M. Should I remove both drivers?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Frank.

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE is a driver/hardware not sleeping and waking correctly.
it is very common with devices and drivers that were written during the windows 7 time frame. Windows 7 had these features turned off by default, when you go to windows 8 and above the features are on by default but often require that you update the BIOS or the motherboard device drivers to make them work.

so, boot windows 10 and turn off all of the power management settings: ie go into high performance mode, update your BIOS and drivers for your motherboard and any USB devices you might have.

if you change your memory dump type to kernel memory dump, it will log the error and record it it in c:\windows\memory.dmp file so it can be read by the debugger. Otherwise just look for the BIOS and driver updates from your motherboard vendor.

That so explains why easiest fix for Stutter is turn power to high performance, I thought it was just a bandaid but it is a cure... I had also guessed it was something to do with USB too.

Dear everyone,

I will try and update the following items:

- Chipset
- BIOS
- Network
- USB
- Audio

The thing is: ASUS isn't showing my product anymore, so I submitted a ticket for further support from ASUS.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Thanks,

Frank.

Seriously? How old is your computer? They still have my old one from 10 years ago on there... https://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/P5N32E_SLI/

Try running a program like Driver Booster, it might find a majority of those for you.. not the bios though.

most software like that is terrible. Driver Booster seems better than most, it doesn't suggest drivers that don't match my pc. Only thing I don't trust it with is network drivers.

nothing showing for it after 8.1: https://www.asus.com/my/Notebooks/A55VD/HelpDesk_Download/

Dear Colif,

I've updated drivers:

- Chipset
- BIOS

No real improvement so far.

I've run a clean install of the NVIDIA GPU and Intel GPU. I booted in safe mode and noticed that my laptop was performing his normal speed. I noticed that my laptop turned quite slow and froze a lot without the charger plugged in.
In safe mode I notice that the performance is back to it's normal state. Is there something I'm missing right now? I updated the chipset + bios, and reinstalled both GPU drivers.

Thank you in advance.

Frank Solleveld.

Did you change your power options to high performance? it was one of johnbl's suggestions.

Is it possible the battery is the fault? i don't use a laptop, never owned one, so my knowledge of them is limited.

could still be USB, unless they were updated with chip set drivers.

I'll try that later this day. I'm at work now, I'll let you know later today.

I did change to High Performance, I always have High Performance on because of Performance ;-)
Thanks for the support so far.

Frank Solleveld.

I run balanced, cause pc fast enough without it and it means CPU isn't on 100% all the time and might last longer. Once PC starts to feel slow, and a fresh install of win 10 or new drivers doesn't make it fast again, I may use High Performance
