MiniDump Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11vlkO8GfOVX64XBTBiJEWULb8uT0vX63/view?usp=sharing

I have been dealing with blue screens for quite some time now. After clean windows install and new RAM installation (and testing ram using memtest86) I had a long period of time where there were no bluescreens. I thought the problem was solved up until a couple of days ago they popped back up.

I google every code and sometimes I get one thats related to wifi and bluetooth drivers but I don't have wifi on my motherboard and I don't use any bluetooth stuff. I have updated BIOS & chipset & made sure all other drivers are up to date.

I have a million dump files I can share more if need be. So over these blue screens I am lost on what I can do at this point. Any help would be great.
System Specs:
Gigabyzte x570 GamingX MOBO
Ryzen 5 3600 CPU
Geforce rtx 3070
EVGA 700 Bronze PSU (I've heard PSU could cause BSOD but I have no way of testing)
16gb G Skill Ripjaws 3200 (running at stock speed NOT XMP)

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard? What version(not edition) of Windows 10 are you working with? How old is the PSU in your build? Did you manually install all relevant drivers for your platform after sourcing the drivers on a donor system(and disconnecting the system from the internet during OS install)? On second thoughts, could you state where you sourced the installer for your OS?

running at stock speed NOT XMP
See if you can manually input the timings for the ram as advertised on the sticker in BIOS and if the issue is averted.

Oddly enough, the board doesn't come with a wireless adapter, which leads me to ask if you have a wireless adapter plugged into the motherboard, either via the PCIe slots or the USB ports?

EVGA is the brand of the PSU, while 700 is the advertised wattage and Bronze is it's 80+ efficiency rating What model is the PSU from out of EVGA's portfolio?

Colif asked me to take a look at this and he'll reply later. Here is some relevant info from the dump files:

Motherboard: X570 GAMING X
Motherboard Revision: Unknown (There are multiple revisions, which one do you have?)
BIOS VERSION: F35
BIOS DATE: 07/08/2021
Windows version: 10.0.19041.1288 (WinBuild.160101.0800)
RAM: 2 x 8GB (F4-3200C16-8GVKB)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor

I ran the dump files through the debugger and got the following information: https://jsfiddle.net/abdcLe1s/show This link is for anyone wanting to help. You do not have to view it. It is safe to "run the fiddle" as the page asks.

Comment: 2 crashes blamed Avast. The aswSnx.sys file is a part of Avast anti-virus. You have a few choices: 1. Make sure you have the latest updates for Avast and Windows. 2. Uninstall and re-install Avast. 3. Uninstall Avast (at least temporarily until we figure out why you are crashing). The Avast homepage can be found here: https://www.avast.com/

I bought the motherboard right when Ryzen released their 3600 CPU's so I imagine it's the first revision. That's interesting the dumps point at Avast, I actually downloaded Avast because I was having a hell of a time tracking down drivers that were out of date and Avast (seemingly) updates them for me. Avast and windows are the most up-to-date.

As far as what Bluetooth or wireless devices I have plugged into my computer, I have never had anything plugged in Bluetooth-related. I sourced my OS from the windows media tool. Installed fresh and I then install all relevant drivers for GPU, SSD's NVME's & peripherals. As far as details for the power supply its an EVGA 700 B - 700 watt bronze power supply. Thats all the details the box has given me.

Avast updates drivers? I wouldn't trust them to get it right, especially when you could use the Gigabyte app centre to update drivers.

NO need to use a 3rd party application when motherboard is still fairly new and still supported
What drivers were out of date?
X570 isn't an old motherboard by any stretch

looking at system, I don't get what could have tripped Avast up. Only network drivers showing in dumps are Realtek Ethernet
Newest here are from October. Download Win10/Win11 Auto Installation Program (NDIS) from under the windows header here - https://www.realtek.com/en/componen...0-1000m-gigabit-ethernet-pci-express-software

2 crashes mention Nvidia in passing, you could try running DDU and reinstall Nvidia drivers (though they could just be a victim of the same thing that crashed Avast) - https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq...n-install-of-your-video-card-drivers.2402269/

Avast was a last ditch effort because I have no solid way of finding out which drivers were out of date - when Avast ran its scan it mentioned a handful of drivers were out of date that I needed to update ( Gbe Family controller, Some Amd System drivers, Nvidia audio wavelenght [?], realtek drivers). I was getting really frustrated knowing that drivers could be causing issues with the crashes but the device manager does not update when I ask it to. Always returns with "everything is up to date" and that's just not true. Should I be able to access all drivers through motherboard support? DDU was one of the more recent things I had run, but that was before my most recent windows reinstall.

Honestly at this point at a huge loss. Troubleshooting components is a huge pain in the butt and I guess power supply is my next best guess?

I use a program called Driver view to look at the drivers on my system and see what might need updating
Download and run Driverview - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html
All it does is looks at drivers installed; it won't install any (this is intentional as 3rd party driver updaters often get it wrong)
When you run it, go into view tab and set it to hide all Microsoft drivers, will make list shorter.

I wouldn't bother with device manager, it only checks the Microsoft update catalog and if the hardware makers haven't given a copy of the drivers to them, it won't find any.

If you ever looking for drivers, just ask here.

The model isn't the best EVGA make, that would be a Supernova. I don't know what that model is like. I generally don't jump to PSU being to blame unless its an unknown brand

I downloaded the driver view tool, does it mention if drivers would be out of date, or is it up to me to check for the most recent version online and compare it to what I have?

I vaguely know how to read dump files but when they point to ntk modules am I right in saying those are kernel modules and are a vague pointer?

Also would google chrome crashing regularly give me any hint as to what might be going on? My blue screens rarely happen in the middle of playings games, mostly happen within the first 5 minutes of booting up if that makes any difference.

EDIT: Another question, I discovered I can't update the driver for a NVME drive I have. Its a Western Digital Black Solid State model # WDC WDS256G1X0C-00ENX0. Dashboard says its firmware is out of date but its not allowing me to update it. Any thoughts or opinions are welcome here.

Here is most recent blue screen dump: https://drive.google.com/file/d/120BqM5wPTIa4SYc6tIySoRjMJV8hB0gm/view?usp=sharing

If you could help me maybe understand the dump files a little better that would be great moving forward. Teach a man to fish lmao

I'll let Colif answer your questions when he replies. When you see multiple browsers crashing and software crashing that connects to the internet, it's often the networking drivers. But not always. Just like if games are crashing and it keeps saying DirectX or NVIDIA, then it's likely a GPU or GPU driver issue.

I ran the dump file through the debugger and got the following information: https://jsfiddle.net/k4e9a8dm/show This link is for anyone wanting to help. You do not have to view it. It is safe to "run the fiddle" as the page asks.

Based on gardenman's feedback relating to my chrome crashes I dug into the only network drive I can see on Driver View: rt640x64.sys. I then went to my motherboard manufactures website (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X570-GAMING-X-rev-10/support#support-dl-driver-lan) and found the LAN section for drivers, downloaded the most recent, and installed it. This updated the driver in my DriverView table. But as I was typing this chrome crashed so who knows if that did anything but it seemed like it was worth a shot.

Yes. I should have mentioned that. There is no middle ground, there are apps that tell you what you have and apps that say they can upgrade your drivers, but not any that show you what you have and then show you the source of the drivers. Be nice if there was.

Working out what is old depends how many of the drivers show a creation date. Otherwise you have to search the version numbers. Its not perfect but if you find the drivers yourself. there is a better chance they aren't wrong.

If 3rd party driver updaters were always accurate I would be first person to say, use them... but I have seen them isntall the wrong drivers, and cause more problems than you had before. On my own PC... I trusted driver Booster twice and both times it got it wrong.

okay, error has cldflt.sys in the stack text. it is cloud fliter driver. its used by Onedrive. Another lan action.

If you keep crashing, can youn run this for me, it creates a zip file. if you upload that to same place as dumps, I see if it shows any clues - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/pages/bsodcollectionapp/

You didn't have many drivers running on the last crash.

Do us a favor, uninstall avast and see if you still crash as its majority of the drivers still on PC

Updating this post hoping for a little insight into the most recent crashes. I haven't had any until yesterday since this I updated the network driver. One was specifically after closing chrome, the other was while downloading a game from steam. Not totally sure what the culprit could be.

links to dumps:
  1. system service while downloading steam game: https://drive.google.com/file/d/122B11SYuvHm_vKnJdITlyJtWFH_mnooB/view?usp=sharing
  2. closing chrome: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1291oRxEJmg0ZVBSYItBvmGqj0VQkbqSv/view?usp=sharing

Can you upload minidumps next time? They are located in the C:\Windows\minidump folder. I can pull the same info from them that I pull from a full memory.dmp file. I have a slower connection so it takes me a while to download the larger dumps. I went ahead and downloaded both of these bigger files but it took me 30 minutes. Minidumps would take about 30 seconds. Thanks.

See Win10/Win11 Auto Installation Program (NDIS) under windows header here - https://www.realtek.com/en/componen...0-1000m-gigabit-ethernet-pci-express-software

now its possible the new package just has older drivers in it, so you might have that. I can't tell.

ctfmon,exe crashing is strange.
What Is the Ctfmon.exe (Ctfmon.exe) File?
Ctfmon.exe activates the Alternative User Input Text Input Processor (TIP) and the Microsoft Office Language Bar.

What Does the Ctfmon.exe File Do?
Ctfmon.exe monitors the active windows and provides text input service support for speech recognition, handwriting recognition, keyboard, translation, and other alternative user input technologies.

i have seen it crash before but i can't recall details.

While lan drivers might explain some of it, other crashes are less clear.

@Colif I was under the impression that the motherboard support tab would provide me with all the drivers I need. I was simply downloading the latest "LAN" driver available. But the link you sent me was accurate and it updated the rt640x64.sys driver. Fingers crossed that solved the issue.

MB makers aren't always on the latest driver. While its a good idea to get drivers from the MB makers website, they may not always be on the newest.

As board gets older, its less likely it will have latest drivers. But windows should have most drivers you need by that stage. X570 new enough that most are recent.

It can depend how fast realtek are to give them new drivers and if they need/want to make any changes to the launcher. For instance, the sound drivers from realtek on Gigabyte site changes their appearance to the audio console you get from Microsoft, and adds Gigabyte logos

atnqqhf.jpg

tbh realtek are probably only ones who would have newer drivers on there, though AMD chipset drivers may be newer as well.

I wonder why your Aorus X570 has realtek drivers for lan while mine uses Intel, yours might be better than mine... could be reason?

Your guess is as good as mine as far as the drivers go. I will be shifting to a 550 when I put together an ITX build in the next couple of months but I will keep this in mind moving forward. I tried to search realtek for some drivers a while ago but it was really hard to navigate honestly. This feels like good knowledge to have getting into the windows world but its not super approachable seeing as I had to struggle with blue screens for months to finally understand that sometimes you have to go crate digging for drivers but you also need to be able to identify what driver might be going bad. Takes a sixth sense haha.
