Installed a new game then tried to run it and got a bsod with just the stop code "Kmode exception not handled" and it's been stuck at 0% complete collecting info for 20mins. Is it safe just to hard restart by the power switch?

Solution
Leave it a little while first to see if any progress is made - and write down any relevant information or take a photo of the blue screen as you may need it should you encounter any issues or if it's a problem that needs resolving.

If it does truly get stuck, then just hard reset it, the BSOD isn't repairing anything, the BSOD occurs when windows has to stop itself when it detects something that could critically damage its file structure or hardware, so it's not repairing anything, it's just trying to gather information and log what might have caused the issue - which then creates a minidump.

Give it a chance for a while to see if you can collect the information, If it's stuck for quite a while, then hard reset, then post back to let us know if you're not able to boot normally afterwards, as the problem may still be present after the reset.

If it is a problem that occurs afterwards, we would need the minidump file to properly ascertain the nature of the crash and the potential cause as a KMODE Exception has a few different parameters.

Hard restarted after no progress and it's fine. Uninstalled the game that caused the issue.
