My computer has been experiencing the black screen of death as of late. It mostly happens while the system is under stress while playing video games. My screen will hang for a second, audio will freeze, screen will go black and my monitor will display a message along the lines of "No input detected". I must press the reset button on my computer to get this to fix itself for another short while.

I've been suspecting my CPU to be the issue as I've done the following steps:

  • ■ Replaced the GPU
    ■ Replaced the PSU
    ■ Replaced the Liquid Cooling for my CPU
    ■ Removed any newer software

I've never done any overclocking and my temps are very much under control.

Anyways, I finally got a BSOD to look at. Here's what the displayed message was:
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (error code 0x0000007F)

I tested my RAM and SSD for errors and they look pretty clean. At this point, I think I can say that my CPU is dying and needs to be replaced.

Opinions?

Yes, everything on my computer is up to date. The system has some components (like the processor) that are coming up on 5 years old now. I'll check out your link.

Thanks.
