So I just built my rig last night and this morning
Asus Sabertooth Z77
I7 3770k LGA1155
Geforce Gtx 770 Superclocked 2Ghz
Seagate 240Gb SSD
Hp optical drive
Corsair RM-750 PSU
2x8gb Gskill Ripjawsx

The problem im having is I am pretty new to building and im not sure whats happening here.
I boot up into my bios the video has some lines and some purple blocks , I changed my SATA settings to IDE . So i put the xp disc in and it immediately boots up a bluish screen with some video issues ( will these go away when i can update my video drivers? )

and it immediately asks me if i want to press F6 to install 3rd party raid , or press F2 to enter automated system recovery , I dont hit any of them and it says setup is loading files. It loads files for about a minute or two then says "starting Windows" but as soon as that shows up it pops into a BSOD

I was happy enough i could boot into BIOS as this was my first BIG build. Now i just want to figure out the Video issue and obviously why xp wont load

honestly the only reason i want to install xp is so i can use my student discount to upgrade it to 8.1
With the 5 licenses can i just buy the Student upgrade to 8.1 and will they give me a CD for it ?

I just want to get an OS on here i figured upgrading from xp would cost less than buying a full new copy of 8.1 you know?

Let me know what you think. I'm still a noob , so sorry if im saying some stupid things haha.
