[SOLVED] BSOD when livestreaming to YouTube

So I'm trying to fix my husband's laptop and can't seem to pin down the problem. It keeps getting BSODs but only during webcam livestreaming to YouTube. He can run games on it with no issue, watch videos, no issue... etc.

I have submitted dump files here before, but was told they are empty. There are no error exception codes with the bluescreens. Nothing in Event Viewer that coincides with the BSODs. I have run a 4-pass Memtest - it passed. I have run CHKDSK - it passed with no errors. I have run sfc /scannow and everything fine. Did driver updates. Didn't help.

We used to have Linux on the laptop, and this didn't happen. Put Win10 on it and now this...starting to regret life choices lol

What tests should I try next? Can anyone help me before I pull all my hair out? Thanks!

Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD - that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD

1. Open Windows File Explorer
2. Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump
3. Copy the mini-dump files out onto your Desktop
4. Do not use Winzip, use the built in facility in Windows
5. Select those files on your Desktop, right click them and choose 'Send to' - Compressed (zipped) folder
6. Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.)
7. Then post a link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .

At least this time I found a support page, not that it helps as its only got 2 drivers - https://www.asus.com/in/supportonly/X552EA/HelpDesk_Download/
there are no webcam drivers on Asus site for Win 8 or 10.
I wonder what driver it uses for webcam - none of these are webcam?

I ran DDU and reinstalled AMD Chipset and Graphics drivers. Still had a crash. Going to do a CHKDSK /r next. Will let you know results.

Also, I got a couple more crashes and a couple more dmp files. Then I ran Driver Verifier and got another dmp file. Hope these shed more light on the subject.

One error is caused by a new file "fltmgr.sys". Not sure what it all means though. Hopefully they mean something to you.

There is a BIOS update available for your system. Wait for additional information before deciding to update or not. Important: Verify that I have linked to the correct motherboard. Updating your BIOS can be risky. Never try it when you might lose power (lightning storms, recent power outages, etc).

it is a laptop so thats normal, or did you add the extra 4gb?

all 3 happened in ram, I can't see any outside influences, all the processes in all 3 are parts of windows.

do you use WIFI or Ethernet? Ethernet drivers are from January but WIFI are from 2017

Thanks. We use WiFi. Should I update it? Where do I find the driver?

I ran a MEMTEST for several hours - 4 passes - and it passed - shouldn't it have shown something?

We have not added any RAM to the laptop, but it was a refurbished machine - it could have been added then. It's weird that these problems didn't happen under Linux. Makes me think software rather than hardware but not sure.

I will await further advice

Problem with Atheros WIFI is the company that supplied drivers for them got taken over by Intel and now they don't support the old chips, just the new ones.

I suspect the only driver for that WIFI is win 7, and it won't install on win 10. You might find you need to update the adapter for the WIFI on laptop, or just use a cable if you can as its drivers are still being updated.

That stinks. I don't know much about installing laptop hardware - where do I even start? Or do I have to get an external wifi dongle? Problem is the laptop only has 2 USB ports which are taken

Using ethernet for right now but that's just a bandaid.

I am not certain you can upgrade the WIFI on the laptop, only cards i can find are 2.4ghz 1 channel models so basically, same card. Not the answer I really need.

can you use a usb hub? then you have more usb ports?
