Had an issue when i came to my pc today BSOD. When i reboooted the main os drive had vanished from the bios and obviously did not show up in windows. Removed drive and then plugged it in swapped things about a bit now it works. Any idea what could have caused this the drive is just free standing in the pc at the moment as i have ran out of space till i upgrade to some proper ssd's in the new year cheers.

Thank's for the advice, it is a 3.5 drive just a temporary setup as i had no computer and had to get one up and running quickly. I have used hard drives from pvr sky hd box's freeview box's etc all are showing as ok in crystal info. System was been used to download files plex files to roku and download wiki dump. I was concerned it was a windows 10 issue as it only happened a day or two after installing it though the build is only two weeks old. Online search for windows 10 hard drive failure shows a lot of horror stories, especially if you replace 10 with 8 and 7. After re sitting everything the issue has gone for now. I think i will let it do a burn in over night and see what happens. Still strange in my experience never had a hard drive vanish from the bios after a bsod. On another a question is the drive safe like this not really an issue as its only 160gb temp os drive just curious if that could be the issue plus the sata cable is not lockable.
