Question BSOD with 2 RAM sticks in motherboard

Components
Motherboard: MSI Z390-A pro
RAM: corsair vengeance 8GBx2 2400MHz

I have recently built a new PC, all the drivers appear to be up to date, however when I installed both RAM sticks into their correct motherboard slots (2 and 4), the PC will fail to boot or boot for a short amount of time and then crash. However, the computer WILL boot with either stick of RAM in the 4th slot, but that is the only condition that the PC will operate normally under. Have tried enabling XMP in BIOS for both RAM sticks inserted which seemed to work for about a day before the system started having issues again.

Any ideas about what might be happening here?

Hmm as only slot 4 works it makes me think either

A) motherboard fault.
B) bent cpu pin

Have you tried slots 1 & 3, just as a test?

Are both sticks from a single matched kit?
If not, there is your problem.

CPU pins look fine, I haven't tried pins 1 and 3 yet, but will do at the next opportunity and see the results, thanks!

Are both sticks from a single matched kit?
If not, there is your problem.

Both sticks are from the same pack

Test each stick individually with memtest86 in slot 4.
You should be able to complete a full pass with NO errors.
If you see an error, the stick is defective and you should be prepared to contact Corsair for a RMA replacement.

Next, take a known good stick and test it in each slot to see if you have a defective ram slot.
Your motherboard manual will have a preferred set of slots to use for one or 2 sticks, but any should work.

Such ram symptoms can be caused by a bent cpu SOCKET pin.
Double check that. The processor pins/pads are rarely an issue.
