As the title says, I have been getting at least one bsod restart, while in the middle of playing seemingly any given game I have. DOOM, Battlefield 1, The Witcher 3, Grand Theft Auto 5

The bsod messages I have been getting for the most part, are pretty similar to each other: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Here are the most recent dump files from top to bottom: (From BlueScreenView)

Here is the part/spec list of my build: (Intended use is to do schoolwork, and also a good bit of gamming. Potentially even streaming if I can fix the random bsod's)

Windows is installed on one of the 500gb SSD's.

It should be known that I have already virtually replaced my whole pc in trying to troubleshoot specific parts. And I troubleshooted the parts I replaced before doing so, just went with my gut feelings.
Parts I have replaced: Motherboard, RAM, PSU, GPU, CPU Cooler (PC Part picker has my current parts)

I recently went into computer management and checked window's errors logs. This is what I found; Critical Level Kernel-Power 41...
Again I have already replaced most of my hardware, should I just try inspecting all of the connections and reseating them?

Things I've done:
-CMD chkdsk, it passed (For the HDD)
-Uninstalled and Updated Drivers
-Flashed to the latest bios from my mobo manufacturers webpage, problem persists
-Use MemTest on a flash drive to test each individual stick for 8 passes, both passed (I actually haven't done this on the new sticks of RAM because I haven't considered that they are the trouble causers. Replaced the RAM mainly because it was a package with the old motherboard.)
-Scanned for malware or viruses, all clean.
-Ran the CPU under a 12 hour stress test with Prime95 to ensure stability, all cores passed.
-Restored windows to a previous point, still get blue screens in games.
-Completely reformatted my SSD with Windows and reinstalled the whole OS, still here with the same problem.

Extra info that may or may not be useful:
-My HDD is basically my bulk storage drive. I Have all of my downloads, music, documents, programs that don't need to run fast, and pictures going in there. I noticed that without my side panel on, it makes a decent high pitched buzzing noise. Although it passed the basic windows chkdsk scan, I still am slightly worried its causing problems.

Solution

Yeah, it looks like it was definitely your OC.
You may have lost the Silicon Lottery, you can try reOCing but your real stress tests are gonna be whether BF1...

I always use DDU to clean my old gpu drivers in safe mode. I then go to the nvidea geforce website to download my gpu's latest drivers after restarting. My gpu is an EVGA Card so I don't see why I would use Gigabyte's drivers. What about EVGA? Do they have specific drivers I'm unaware of?

Also, when I replaced my mobo, I switched from the Asus z170-A to the Asus z170-AR. Do you think I could do an easy fix by just switching to different board altogether? I have literally RMA'd my GPU twice already and this is my third one.

Did you reinstall windows before or after replacing the motherboard?
Have you tried unplugging the non-OS drives and seeing if it crashes?

Those Errors you looked at/showed are useless, they only say exactly what they say in their description, that the computer shut down unexpectedly.

If you're actually getting BSODs, what do they say?

Try turning off automatic restarts on system crashing so you can see what the Faulting Module is when they come up:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03413399 (doesnt matter that you don't have an HP, its the same method regardless)

I reinstalled windows on my new mobo yes (Also repeatedly on the old one too). I only get crashes in the middle of playing games, and I did in fact post the BSOD dump files more towards the beginning of my post, so I don't see how I haven't already put all of the relevant info in here.

Do you have like a fancy Razer keyboard/mouse or any other type of fancy input device that has special software it installs?
a printer even?

Any peripherals not listed in PCP?

Try disconnecting them.... and... uninstalling their drivers/software.

Also OCing? If yes, un do it, if not, try underclocking.

The one thing you haven't replaced is your CPU, which actually could be the culprit.

Though I imagine it actually would be under warranty.

All those error codes when researched say they're OCing related.
Since you have an OCable CPU, even if you don't OC, it's likely the source.

Here is what I'm using:
Keyboard- Razer Blackwidow X Chroma
Mouse- Razer Naga Chroma
Headset- Razer Kraken 7.1 USB
Webcam(Usually not hooked up and I removed drivers already)- Logitech C920 HD Pro

I'm using Razer Synapse along with all of my razer gear, and I have gotten comfortable with its functionality. I use it to customize my mouse dpi settings as well as control the color scheme. Without it, all my peripherals can't be utilized to their full potential. Would you recommend a reinstall? Because I do in fact want to use that software.

I also have my CPU OC'd. Tested it with Prime 95 for 12 hours and everything passed with temps not passing 65c on the hottest running core. The voltage is at 1.3v on adaptive mode (tested in manual mode) with the frequency at 4.5GHz. LLC was at level 5. I had a thought that maybe before defaulting my bios, I could try lowering the LLC a point, is this something I may have overlooked?

I already checked with intel to see if I have a retail warrantied product, and I do, so I guess I could replace it if that's really the culprit. I'm just worn out because I have replaced practically everything.

Heh wow, yeah the Synapse software is garbage and can cause performance issues but not with bluescreens like this.

If you could, I'd recommend uninstalling the razer software (and make sure it doesn't reinstall itself) and give it a try, as that doesn't cost any money.

And yeah, turn off any OCing you have enabled, turn everything back to stock settings and try as well.

Gaming is another form of stress testing that even Prime95 can't necessarily replicate.

I will follow your advice James thank you.
To increment the testing a little bit, could I maybe do that in steps?

Example, First uninstall Razer Synapse and try gaming with my OC and a 1 point lower LLC to see if it BSOD's.

Then if it still does, default my bios completely and test in games again without razer synapse.

I'm guessing it would be my cpu if it still BSOD'd after all of that?

Edit: I will get started as soon as I have eaten dinner. And I now realise I basically re-worded your directions, so I should be good with the procedure I asked about, unless you say otherwise haha

Sorry it took me so long to get to testing your solutions.

I'm using Battlefield 1 as my testing environment.

The first run I did, I had my same OC but just lowered the LLC from 5 to 4 (Still with Razer Synapse Installed).
The results: Got a BSOD in the middle of the first game I joined after a few minutes.
Here is the Dump file if you're interested, https://www.mediafire.com/?cn4g6snano3c298

For my second run, I have defaulted my bios. I have yet to run this second test in Battlefield 1 yet, so that is what I will be doing after this post.

If I get another blue screen, I will proceed to uninstall Razer Synapse AND Corsair Link, because they are both known to cause issues from time to time (Although my blue screens might not be relevant to these software created issues).

Question. Do you think it could be possible that all I needed to do before defaulting my bios was play with the voltage a little bit? In other words, since James Mason had said it is most likely cpu oc related, could I try my last stable manual oc and higher the voltage for more stability? Maybe I was being to scarce on the voltage, worrying about temps. If I don't get a blue screen while gaming under the default bios settings, this would seem to almost support my idea, that maybe I just had an unstable voltage to frequency ratio.

So I just finished up 6 games of conquest in Battlefield 1 for my second run with the default bios settings.

No blue screens the whole time! And I never uninstalled Razer Synapse. The one difference I notice is that my cpu core temps are higher, but not by too much (This would be because the the vcore is higher by default).

If I want to eventually oc again, can I? Because I really want to run at 4.5GHz for the extra bit of performance. I had the vcore set to 1.30v with my oc before I defaulted it again. Should I slightly increase the voltage next time I try to oc?

Yeah, it looks like it was definitely your OC.
You may have lost the Silicon Lottery, you can try reOCing but your real stress tests are gonna be whether BF1 crashes fairly immediately or not.

Cause that last dump file again points to a bad OC, or "bad" hardware (like a CPU running at speeds it can't).
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-update/i-get-a-stop-0x00000124-blue-screen-error-randomly/e0d2b236-57c1-4f67-8fa3-09c199862266

Since your CPU works at stock settings, that means well... there's nothing wrong with it technically, so you can't get Intel to replace it.

I'm not an OCing expert or anything, so I can't advise you on proper settings to try again.

Still no blue screens while gaming! Was most likely just my oc.
I'll try to get a better oc in the future, but for now, I'm going to enjoy it at stock speeds and see if it continues to hold well.

Thank you for your persistent help James :)

Hi guys, ive now got the very same problem after having to re-install windows 7 because i had a feeling it was corrupted after everything me and a friend tried wouldnt fix certain connection problems, after reinstalling win7 this was now fixed(im pretty sure it was a clean installation too),however i now have random CTD or worse the screen makes a buzzing sound then freezes and crashes BSOD i checked also and saw it was critical error41Kernel power, same as above and im no IT guy or even taught at school,so this is really stressing me out now, please can somebody try and help me get this right?thankyou and regards to whom picks this up...Asus All SeriesZ-97-A Intel(R) Core (TM)i-5 4690k Devil's Canyon

The solution to my problem was solved just by not over clocking my cpu, I didn't and still don't really need to. If you are over clocking your cpu, just reset your bios to its default settings and see if its stable and there are no bsod's from there. You really need to make your own thread and post all of your own details on the situation.
