Hello everybody,

About half a year ago I built my first pc. It features the following specs:
Motherboard: MSI Tomahawk B350
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Memory: Corsair vengeance LPX 16gb 3000mhz ddr4
GPU: MSI GTX 1080
PSU: Corsair CX 650
Storage: Samsung EVO 850 ssd (250gb)
Storage: Seagate 2TB HDD

Now I did not have any problems with my new build for over 5 months other than some startup problems in the first week. However about 1,5 week ago my first bsod ever occured. I did not worry too much since it was only the first time, and everything went fine after for about a week.
Fast forward a week and my pc has almost become unuseable. Yesterday I encountered another bsod and decided to start investigating the cause. At first glance it looked like a driver problem, because why else would a perfectly fine pc start getting bsod issues? So i checked my drivers and updated them, with the realtek audio driver being very annoying to update correctly. My issues persisted. I did not update every driver though, for example my monitor driver. After all the updating my pc would still bsod when performing a task. (most noticeable while playing PUBG, it would hold out a good 5 minutes before freezing to death. And sometimes the blue screen occures while not performing any task whatsoever.) I had not yet overclocked my cpu, I have however enabled an XMP profile for my ram to put it at 2933 mhz i believe. I have reverted the XMP profile back to its basic frequency. Since my pc is almost exclusively used for gaming I decided to just make a fresh install of windows and then install driver by driver to see if i come across any problems. This was not a fix because i had to repeat the windows installation several times because of bsod's while installing windows. I am beginning to believe I have a hardware problem. Therefore I ran the windows built-in RAM test software which did not find any problems. I have not yet tested the rest of my hardware. Any ideas what my problem could be?

A few crash codes I remember seeing by head:

critical process died
critical structure corruption

Okay, i will try to install windows with the harddrive disconnected. If the blue screens persist, how am I able to run memtest? I dont have a second pc that has a motherboard which supports DDR4.

Okay i was not informed that memtest is a program you can run without opening windows first, my bad. However I tried ur first suggestion by unplugging my HDD but it did not fix my issue(s). Im running memtest with 1 of my ram sticks overnight, and one with the other tomorrow during the day. Ill post the results here.

Okay, I ran memtest overnight with one of my 8gb ram sticks and when I woke up it showed lots of errors. Can I safely say that at least that ram stick is faulty? I am curreny testing my other stick. It has been testing for 2 hours and no errors yet with exactly the same setup as I tested my other (faulty) stick with. Can I conclude that I have 1 faulty ram stick and the rest of my hardware is fine? Thanks for the help
