Hello just to start Im a complete novice when it comes to specifics or details so Im just wanting to ask the question on here before I do anything.

I have a BT-Home Hub 3 Image for reference -http://www.ispreview.co.uk/ispnews/data/upimages/subfolders/2011%20Misc/bt_uk_homehub3_broadband_router.jpg

as well as Basic BT-Open Reach Router -Image for reference.
http://www.increasebroadbandspeed.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/bt-openreach-modem.jpg

I want to upgrade the router to NETGEAR R8000-100UKS Nighthawk link to item below.

so id like to ask is it compatible?
has anyone done something similar?
would there be any advise on something better if its not compatible?
I've heard online if it isn't BT router that it can be a pain setting up?
and lastly thanks for any help!

Solution
Yes it fine to swap the router to the netgear. You still using your BT modem so you can buy any router you like.
If you wanted an all-in-one box modem/router then you would have to look for VDSL2 routers then.
