bt you view box with a virgin modem

Hi I have a Virgin router in my living room, and also I have a BT you view box in my bedroom the BT box is connected via an Ethernet cable . Any thoughts or help would be appreciated

I should add to that that it did work before, but now doesn't. Am I going mad thinking that it should work?
