Hey, does anyone know when BTX will be available? I'm ready to replace my old pc (AMD 1600+), but I don't want to go out and buy a nice new case and all the fixings right now if BTX is around the corner.

Also, has anyone heard if BTX will really REPLACE ATX, or are both forms likely to coexist for a long time?

The idea is for BTX to eventually replace ATX as the standard form factor.

As far as BTX boards being released, I haven't seen any yet. ATX will be around for a while yet.

Intel P4 2.4B, MSI 645E Max-U Mobo, 1GB DDR333, ATI R9800PRO 128MB, SB Live 5.1, Samsung 120GB, Maxtor 120GB, LG DVD+-R/RW, WIN2K PRO SP4

Yeah, it sounds like mobo manufacturers are resisting BTX for now. Check this article out. BTX may eventually be the way to go. Perhaps in a couple of years.

BTX is NOT on a fast track for adoption.

I've no particular axe to grind with Intel but when they or Microsoft try crap like this it really makes me hoppin' mad. Simply because they need to find a way to cool their overpriced, overheated chips, they was the rest of us to junk what we have and go to some new form of case, Mobo, cooling fans etc.. I don't friggin' think so. Develop a cooler chip, with 64 bit processing and affordable cooling solutions and we'll talk. Till then Intel, shut your mouth.

Sparky - Yeah, I haven't seen any either (except a few mock ups from Tom's show reviews).

Black Cat - Good article, but a little out of date (March). I suppose the lack of new information should be telling us something though.

Warf - I personally think it's a neat idea to organize the motherboard as the BTX seems to be trying to do, but I agree that Intel's attempt to force the issue is bothersome.

Thanks for your input everyone.
