I am trying to build a budget pc for my mother, I am build her an Intel pc,
first I am wondering what direction to go, first I have the 15 6500 or 6600 or even 6600k, or even the i7 4790, I al leaning towards the 6600 for 215, motherboard I am wanting if I go 6600 z170 because it will handle more, and at lease 2gb graphics, I really would like water cooling, and 16 gb ram leaning towards gskill, and ssd would be awesome to, plus 1tb hhd, now the ssd can be 120 gb, and a case, cooling fans ect. I am way over budget so I need advice and held with all of this. Oh and looking for days at cases under 50 I want style, a window, and cooling and at least 1 external bay for a DVD drive, but top of all I need in a case wire management would be at the top, yes I have wiggle room for fans so best fans at the best price ideas would also be great. Now you might ask why water cooling, well she replaces her computer like once every 5 years so I want to give her 5 years no problems or as little as possible. She does play games, no they do not use a lot of effort but they do take room on hhd plus music and video. Now why I am leaning towards skylake is because in 5 years I should be able to upgrade no problem. So honestly any help from anyone would be awesome. I have been searching non stop for a week, looking everywhere, and I just need some help. Best place to buy what to buy and why, anything and everything got to get my prices down. Thank you to everyone for any and all help

Solution
To be honest for $500 I'd look into a AMD A10-7700K Kaveri Quad-Core 3.4 GHz Socket FM2+ for $105 or a AMD A10-7850K Kaveri Quad-Core 3.7 GHz Socket FM2+ for $125. This motherboard ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming Fatal1ty FM2A88X+ Killer FM2+ for $95. DDR3 1600 memory can be had now for under $50 for 4 GB X 2. This leaves you with $250 dollars for A good 550 watt power supply, nice case, and 1 tb drive. Skip the graphics card for now. The AMD Kaveri APU's are not that bad doing light gaming.

Games I do not know and honestly do not ask, I know she can not even load one on her current pc, she has an old core 2 with 2gb ram and 80 gb hard drive, so not idea why this game is giving her an error message but it does not enough room so who knows, she is in Florida I am in houston, and well, I have two choices water cool or something like evo, I think those are too big so doing what I can to keep low profile, as for my build you are correct to a point, why I am asking for help, processor 215, or 6500 for 199, motherboard I am looking at 100 and video card 150, I can go with a cheaper mb, or even a cheaper video card but I do want al least 2 gb, everything I have read said 4gb, but 2gb at min., I know I can get 8gb of ram for 40 to 50, but yes I would like 16 so I do not have to worry about down the road, so right now I am right at 500 no drives, no case and no cooling, kind of why I am asking for help, you know a great graphics card that will save me money recommend it, you know of a great motherboard let me know, I honestly can only read so much so that is why I am asking, I have always been partial to msi and gigabyte, ram I am now understanding how great gskill is, so I am looking for recommendations to do this build, if I have to go with 6500 processor I will. If I have to go with one 1tb hhd I will. But if I can find one out there I can afford I will do it, but thanks for your time and help. John

First find out exactly what she is going to be using the system for. I would do an A10 build as above ^. Going all fancy with a Core i5, higher end cooler, video card would be overkill and considering Windows will be almost $100 that would leave you $400 fro the parts.

This is kind of what I was looking for, even leaves me with enough money to upgrade the processor to the 6600, but I guess you are right just no way to do it, and to think this is with ought shopping around, and no I did not get water cooling, but hey take away the air cooler, and the processor upgrade I have 35 dollars to invest in watercooling, corsair for 50, I guess I went 15 over budget, but I did it and so I am 15 over I said I had wiggle room. Heck might even actually shop around and get it all for even less, I mean I have not checked ebay yet. So please next time someone ask for help, maybe actually help them out. I mean I do not do a lot of shopping around for parts, so I am sure you might be able to get most of these parts for even less.

You are completely right I did not include windows, or an optical drive, first I have windows 10 64 bit, I am allowed to activate I think 5 computers with it, and we'll I have used it on only one and when I rebuild mine I will probable do it on that one, so for now let's say 3 computer still leaves me with 2, but I can get windows 7 for 60, and free upgrade, and we'll first I have a dozen optical drives but ok, 15 more dollars at frys, and I know there is no psu, I already bought that a month ago, 650 watt gold modular. Oh and that was on sale for 25 dollars at best buy and corsair so it is a good one, now as I started this thing off I said intel, I have amd, always preferred amd, but let's be honest they do not compare any longer with intell, I am hoping the new line coming out in November last I heard will be better, but I will not know till then. So I will go intel and I will encourage others to either wait or go intel, thanks for all the time

I'll agree with that there but the AMD A10 APU's all ready have built in R7 graphics with about the same frame rates as the card you picked out. The Intel CPU is there last generation, not that it is bad by any means, just your not gaining that much more real world basic computer program speed with your set up compared to the a AMD APU based system. I doubt you would notice the deference between the two unless your running cad or gaming on high resolution ( benchmarks are another animal all together ). AMD is still a good option for tight budget builds. Which leaves you more money in the budget for better components. Truthfully I have used both CPU companies on builds for friends a family and I see the pros and cons of both. Just trying to get you the best performance for you dollar that's all.

No and I do agree with yours and everyone else thoughts about AMD, as I said I gave been using AMD for 15 years and up until now or the one I have, yes it does run ok, honestly I have compared it to older in cores and have found better performance from some of the older intels, and I have 6 core black, but also think some of my drawbacks come from my mb, but still. No comparison to the new 6th generation intel skylake, and yes the intell 6500 i5 is a 6th generation shylake processor and also z170 mb, you can not compare the two at all. Also in 5 years I should still be able to upgrade the processor and ram and be set for another 5 years., oh one more thing, that inter might run at 3,2, but it turbo boost to 3.7, so not so shabby at all, yes the 6600 or even 6600k would be better, I am ok with this, but I do think 15 dollars would be well spent going with the 6600

There is no OS here, nor power supply, monitor, keyboard or mouse. For a new build you'd need all that. If you are upgrading the core parts then you can keep it at $500.

I don't think Microsoft has a family pack of Windows 10 licenses, one license per computer.

You should list exactly what you need and what you don't need in the system when asking for build suggestions, leaving out the fact that you already had some parts for the system will lead to not the best suggestions.
