[SOLVED] Budget Build, Already Have Graphics Card

Hey everyone!

Ive been away from the PC world for a while but am looking to maybe put a PC together soon.

I dont have too much money to throw around though, and was wondering if a build is possible for around 450-500$. I already have a 970 MSI that Im fine with keeping for now. Everything else has to come from scratch though. I'm not really geared towards maxing out the newest games, I just want to get back to playing games like DotA and being able to handle newer games around medium settings. I also don't want to be stunted from upgrading within the next year.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'm kind of in the dark with newer trends.

the 970 is still a good card even today, comparable to a 1660. i'd recommend what i usually like to recommend for a 450-500 build,
a ryzen 3100 or 3300x
a b450 board
16gb of 3200mhz dual channel ram
and preferably an m.2 ssd, but if you dont mind the less r/w speed (usually not important for a casual gamer that does not occasionally transfer large files) and 2-3 seconds difference on loading times, get a 1tb or 500gb sata ssd.
as for the case, i'd get a better quality one with good airflow since that card gets kinda hot for today's standards

try speccing it out on pcpartpicker, but with the pandemic going on the prices there aren't really accurate (for some reason) so double check the price by searching each part's retail, or the price on where u gonna buy the parts

If you want future upgrades possibilities, you'll need to invest in a quality psu. Atm, there is a mass shortage, but you can still find quality units from time to time. Units such as, corsair RMx, seasonic focus, thermaltake toughpower.

Atm, a quality sata ssd is more expensive then a decent nvme ssd.

I'd wait till a r3 3100($100) or 3300x($120) get back in stock at their appropriate prices.
