[SOLVED] Budget Build for my friend (A different one), how good is it?

Hey everyone! So this is another part list I put together for another friend, this time the budget was a decent bit lower, the absolute max budget is $600 (A comfortable budget for him is $500-$550), and just like my other friend, he wanted 16 GB of ram, the capacity to overclock his CPU with no overheating, as well as 1 TB of storage, here's the part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CMZDXv

You can get a 1600AF (not the one in list, you need the 12nm version) for about the same price (it really should be $85 but prices are mental right now), and you also wouldn't need an aftermarket cooler as it comes with a pretty decent one. So that would give you another $30 to spend elswhere. I'd suggest on the PSU, as 350w is...cutting it fine to say the least. I've put a 450w one in, but even that could be a little better if he can afford another $10-15. Also included a better GPU, which will deliver about 15-20% better performance. I've gone a little overbudget as I really wanted to get a SSD in there for booting Windows, but if budget is really that tight you could just stick with the standalone 1Tb drive and/or get a slightly cheaper GPU:

May I ask what's wrong with the 14nm version of the CPU? Besides the price of course.

The 14nm version is slower. The 12nm is basically an r5 2600. Also that PSU is very poor quality. Do not skimp on that. If you have to, run win 10 unlicensed, for awhile, until the ability to afford a legit key is something that can be done. You are going to want an SSD.

1600af is basically a Ryzen 5 2600 with maybe 100mhz difference. The 14nm version is older, performs worse, and has a worse memory controller.

Avoid the Thermaltake litepower 350w, especially at that price. That is a truly bad power supply and will leave NO room for upgrades. The BeQuiet Pure Power 11 600W PSU is pretty solid and with inflated PSU prices right now you dont have much of a selection.

Well what's the problem with including the G2A Windows 10 Key, I should've clarified earlier that 600 was the max for any big parts, if it only went over about 10 dollars then that's fine.

It's not 80 bux anymore. It was before Covid-19. The system in my signature would cost me around 400 more dollars If I were to build it right now compared to when I built it a month and a half ago.

You never know the source of cheap keys. This leads to some potential issues. The key can just flat out not work. Sometimes they work but then Microsoft revokes the keys since they were obtained by the seller illegally. It's a bit of a risk with a cheap key.

Most of these cheap keys are volume license keys, or bulk keys that a company bought at a hefty discount and then sold off the keys to companies like G2A. They are legitimate keys however they are not intended to be resold. A bit of a grey area on their validity.

My experiences are that most of the cheap keys I have bought work right away, and if they don't, I tell the seller and get a new key. I have never had a key revoked. My main pc is using a $14 W10 key that has never given me issues going on 2 years now.

This has already been addressed. Its price should be $85 but because of a scarcity of pieces due to the world climate, its popularity etc. the price has gone right up. So it might be worth holding off until it's available at the price it should be.

I had an issue at one of the resellers like CDKeys or someone like that. A game I bought flat out didn't work. I got my money back via a Paypal dispute because after several emails all they would say is that hey they sent me a working key.

My brother has a Ryzen 5 2600 working with 3600mhz ram on a rather basic Asus B450. It can work with 3600mhz.

My 2600 is running with 3200mhz but i have overclocked it to 3466mhz

Sometimes Ryzen can be a little finicky with ram, however, the G.skill there should be pretty Ryzen friendly.

You're right. I built a 2600 a month ago for a friend and it had no problems DOCP to 3200MHz.

I had a Ryzen 3 1200 for awhile. I paid $100 for it back in early 2018 and it really isn't worth it anymore. Strong performance for the sub $50 you can find them for now, but not a good value at $100.

I would recommend a new $129 Ryzen 5 2600 if you can stretch to that, but the 3200g can work.

May I ask, in PcPartPicker, whenever I chose the 3200g, regardless of the motherboard, it always gives me the compatibility issue that's about possibly downgrading to an older BIOS? Could you explain that cause I don't know what it's talking about.
EDIT: Also, will he be able to overclock it to 3.8-4.0 GHz with the stock cooler? Also, a lot of the reviews are mainly saying the 3200g is good for office tasks and can only run 1080p/30 FPS, I was wondering why this would be the case?
