Budget Build [Photoshop & CAD]

Sep 17, 2012
Hello, 1st post here. I'v looked though the site before as it often comes up as google and I have finally diced to sign up and ask for some help. ;)

I'm looking to build a budget rig, around $500, but less is better.

It will be mostly used for Photoshop and cad and program along those lines I'd also like something I can produce dubstep music as im semi interested in that. (graphic's) Won't be doing 'Much' gaming as im a console gamer, and don't want to spend the big bucks for a gaming rig tbh. I'm new to all this graphics stuff so correct me if im wrong. Pretty much im on a $500 laptop thats 1 year old, so pretty much any thing will be an upgrade.

(I already have a case and a 550w psu (not sure if that will be enofe?) Be feel free to tell me anything to change. Im more pushing towards AMD for its price and cores, but im not %100.

Rig 1.

CPU: AMD FX Series FX 6100 $129.00
RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) $59.00
Graphic's card: No idea. Advice Please :)
Mother Board: ASRock 970 EXTREME3 $96.00
$284 + Gfx

Rig 2.

CPU: AMD FX Series FX 8150 $209.00
RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) $59.00
Graphic's card: No idea. Advice Please :)
Mother Board: ASRock 970 EXTREME4 $115.00
$383 + Gfx

Obviously, there is more too do to these rigs (cooling and um.. etc,) This is just the basics to it.

I use Photoshop CS6 and Sony Vegas and have definitely chose AMD as my budget solution, it also takes advantage of multi threads but it all depends on how much you use your programs. I open near to or more than 5,000 images almost daily. So, I got 8GB of RAM a ohk graphics card (Fermi) and the AMD 8120 because it is almost the same processor +/- overclocking speeds, not even noticeable.

So if I may ask, is this for photography or? Also, how much is and how greatly is Photoshop used?

I do suggest a AMD bulldozer fx-6100 or the 8120 and any lower end gpu from amd or nvidia, like 550ti, 6850 or those 7750 or 6670 should do the tring, over all its great, with 8gb of ram its all good, and go get some nice case that fits the size that you want.

look through silverstone, antec, coolermaster, corsair, nzxt (these are the case which I normally buy on my other rigs or for other peoples rigs)
