Hey guys,
I'm looking to improve my current system which is:

Amd 3500+ 939
Nvidia 6600gt
2 gigs Ram
OCZ GameXStream 600W
Raptor 74Gig
Asus a8n-sli

It's getting old and not too reliable and I was looking for an upgrade that is definitely sub $1000 CAD and preferably lower. I will be keeping the power supply and the cd/dvd drives but definitly everything else has to go. I want it to game but nothing too much. I'm only playing the older games that my 6600 gt plays just fine so nothing too extravagant. I am most confused in the issue of motherboards tbh so any help is appreciated. don't really think he needs that much CPU especially if you're recommending a 4670.. I'd suggest you go with an e5200 instead and save some money... and maybe a 4830.

Thank you for all the help guys. You've been awesome. In the end, I think it'll be more economical + more efficient to go with the first repliers suggestions substituting the e7400 for an e5200. Newegg showed me about $712 before taxes but I can get the exact same system at my local computer shop for $599 without taxes and I'll just pick it up.

Two last questions: I decided to go with the Coolermaster RC690 which more suits what I'm looking for, plus I like the extra intakes/outtakes for the PSU. Any suggestions or this a good case?

Also, I opted for the Sapphire 4670 with 1 gig of memory rather than the suggested 512 mb because it was actually cheaper. What gives? Good choice?
