Hello ,

Im looking for the most budget friendly ( but good for gaming ) CPU that there is on the market and a good motherboard to go for it for around £150 for both . I was looking at the Ryzen 1200 but Im not sure if thats good for Gaming or not . Im relatively new to this so please help me make a good choice . Thank you!

Ryzen 3 1200 is pretty good for entry level gaming If you pair it with a solid graphics card and ram. It has no integrated GPU so a graphics card is needed.

However, If you cheap out on the motherboard you can get a much more powerful Ryzen 5 1600 and B450 mobo for around 165 pounds.

Im going to be getting a MSI GTX 970 TwinFrozr V to pair with it. So do you think the Ryzen 1200 will pair well with this? And can you recommend me a good Motherboard to pair with it? Thanks

If you're buying just a Ryzen processor please just save up the money and buy Ryzen 7 2700 for ~$220 It's always worth it.
The best bang for your buck would be the Ryzen 5 2600 and the Gigabyte B450M DS3H which would come to around $220 aswell.

Ive got a really tight budget so I cant overspend + the prices in the UK are like $280 in US

If you have enough money and you're buying the 1200 see if you can spend the extra 20 - 40 bucks to get the 2200 it's performance is not just slightly better it's almost like the 1600 at base clock.

The 1200 and a 970 is a good pairing.
This motherboard is the minimum id reccomend: ASRock - B450M-HDV Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard | £52.49

If you want a better board or need an atx board you could step up to the MSI B450 tomahawk
When you say minimum (about the B450M ) do you mean it won't pair well or is it still a good pair . Mainly going to be using this pc for gaming / editing . Will it bottleneck?

Not true at all. The 2200 is slightly faster than the 1200, but even a slight overclock on the 1200s stock cooler will fix this.

The 1600 is more powerfull than any Ryzen 3. The 1600 has 6 cores and 12 threads. Ryzen 3s have 4 cores and 4 threads.

Oh sorry I never took the time to research lol it's just from what I heard I might have gotten it confused with the 2200G because of the great single core performance.

The B450m will pair well with the Ryzen 3 1200 and GTX 970, but the B450m has fewer pcie slots, fewer m.2 slots, uglier looks, worse VRMs, and worse VRM heatsyncs compared to a higher end full ATX board. You can still use the B450 m with similar performance to a better motherboard if you don't want to overclock much.

So do you recommend me getting the 2200G or sticking with the 1200?
