Looking to upgrade the cpu on my PC because my fx 4100 just isn't cutting it anymore.
My Build:
CPU: AMD FX 4100
GPU: Gigabyte R9 270x 2 GB
Motherboard: ASRock 960GM G53 FX
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
Heres a list of CPUs that are supported by this motherboard: http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/960GM-GS3%20FX/#CPU
I mainly use my computer for some light gaming and video editing occasionally and looking for a CPU around $100-150. Let me know what you guys would recommend!

Any entry level cpu and motherboards that you would recommend for this build?

Three choices I see:
1. Upgrade your CPU to an FX 6xxx series. You'll get most of the gaming benefits of having an 8xxx series FX without the high power demands. Downside, it'll still be 'slow' for running new games, and cost might be unreasonable.
2. Buy a pre-built Dell or something, with an i5 Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge CPU. It'll be much faster than what you have, and faster than the upgrade to another FX CPU, and you can reuse things like your DDR3 ram. Downside, you will be stuck with the quirks and limitations of using a pre-built. You may also need to upgrade the power supply or reuse the one you're using now.
3. Save for a new build. Downside, cost. You'll need a new CPU, a new motherboard, and new DDR4 system ram. No way you can do that at $150.
