Question Budget Editing PC Check

Hi all,

I am building a PC for my friend. The primary use of this PC will be Photoshop, with the occasional Blender and Premiere usage. Lastly, some occasional gaming for games like Baldur's Gate 3 and perhaps some other similar laid-back games.

The budget is roughly $1,000 USD (16 million IDR). The price must include:
+ Tower
+ Monitor
- Case (I will give him my old Eclipse P300)
- Case fans (I've got a few extras that I'll give him as well)
- K&M already owns

Here's what I got so far. Don't mind the price, I've modified them to match my local currency (IDR), and prices are in thousands of IDR (yes, we are talking millions, it's normal 😛):

If you can let me know if you see any problems, but I would also like to have some recommendations for:
- B660 board that supports BIOS flashback
- Air cooler alternatives at a similar $50 price point
- Strongly hoping that 650w is enough

Any price I can shave off means I can go for bigger storage or a better-quality screen for editing.

"The budget is roughly $1,000 USD."

"Total: $16114.00".

????
IDR buddy.

I would not use the F skew. Not only can it be problematic for troubleshooting, but my understanding (by way of videos) is that the iGPU can be leveraged for the uses you mention.

Edit-

Other points of mention.

IDK about your market, but here the 7xx chipsets are less expensive than the 6xx chipsets for some reason.

The Mugen is a well respected value air cooler. There is an 'assassin' one in that price point that is well thought of as well. I cannot think of the specific model.

650W is enough, but might not be a bad idea to go upward in model line for something a bit more quality. With that said, I have never had an issue from a Corsair PSU, so there is that. If there were plans to go upward in graphics card later, already having a nice 750W unit would be nice, such as the RMx series, etc. if you can fit to budget.

First off, I would pay a bit more for the non F version of the 13400.
It is invaluable if you should ever have graphics issues.
And, you get quick sync:
The 13400 comes with a perfectly good stock laminar flow cooler.
Try that out first before buying an aftermarket cooler.

Look for a motherboard with the latest gen wifi included.
It will perform better than a usb wifi dongle.

13th gen support was introduced to B660 motherboards over a year ago.
All motherboards will have 13th gen support by now. Bios flashback will only be found on more upscale versions.

Your psu is one of the OK "budget" units.
That said, it is not a good idea to go cheap on the psu.
Look for a unit with a 7 year warranty.
650w is plenty for the 4060

I did not know the CPUs came with stock coolers, I guess there is no harm in giving that a shot before spending more - you guys are absolutely right. In that case, I might as well try the non-F version as it's only a $20 difference, especially if the iGPU can bring benefits.

I know he won't be upgrading for a very long time so I think sticking to 650w will do fine if it's already plenty for this build. However, I've reconsidered and have swapped it to the CM 650w Gold V2 White. After a bit of research, it seems it's being praised as being better.

I would suggest you get atleast a tier B PSU from this list:

650W is enough. I would suggest you to stick with Mugen 5. or check for deepcool AK500/AK620.

Since you would be doing video editing with primier pro, i would advice for a high quality SSD like the Crucial P5 plus or WD SN850X or Samsung 980/990.

I would also suggest for a pcie wifi card or a M.2 wifi card. more bandwidth compared to type A.

Also, since you friend is doing content creation, an ultrawide monitor might be helpful. 21:9 aspect ratio 34" monitors.

Gigabyte boards with 'Q-Flash Plus' has the USB bios flashback feature. The Strix B660-A also has it. you have to look for the following in Asus product page:

ASUS EZ DIY

- BIOS FlashBack™ button

- BIOS FlashBack™ LED
