Budget Friendly CPU

Could anyone recommend a processor between $150 to $200 range upgrade . I am a gamer and i have a gateway DX4822-01. im upgrading my PSU as well, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Intel core i5 4460, or 4570 (maybe a 4590 if you can find it) for intel, then FX 8350 for AMD.

For strictly gaming only, get any one of the i5s, but for heavy multitasking and rendering choose the FX 8350.

Thats a socket 775 system... nothing you'll find is new and it's all pretty out of date. Save about $600 and build a new rig. You might find a nice Q9650 or Q9550 on Craigslist or Ebay but honestly putting money into a dead platform is just a waste.

Oh, didn't see that was lga 775 oops, none of my recommended cpus will work in 775 socket.

I recommend buying a new cheap intel motherboard and put a i3 4130 or 4330 in.

Yeah best you can do with that motherboard is a Core2 Quad, used on ebay and craigslist like nosupport4u stated. Running around 70-100$ looks like, but really, that is such an old system (2008 is when that chipset was released) you'd be better off saving up for something new.
