Im about to order parts for my PC but i couldnt choose a good CPU. Im ordering 2 parts at the moment for about 300-350€ and i have chosen the GTX 950 to be one of them, so I'm left with about 170€ and I'd like to hear what you guys would suggest as a good CPU for me.

Then it would be best if you take a look at the mainboard see if the name is printed there (In most cases the name is printed in white fat letters on the board), or you can find it on the mainboard-box that it came shipped in. Then google the name and see what socket it uses (Should be LGA 1151, LGA 1150, LGA 1155 or if its really old LGA 1366). Intel CPUs are not compatible, so you have to know the exact socket identifier to choose a CPU for it.

An i5 3570k uses a Socket LGA 1155 and a i5 4690k uses an LGA 1150 for example.

OK so you have a pretty old mainboard. The best CPU that runs on this board is a "Core i7 880" and the best i5 version would be the "Core i5 760". The problem could be to still get one of these, as they are not produced anymore. Maybe you can get one on eBay. I think it would be easier to get a new mainboard with a new CPU. just get a cheap LGA1150 mainboard and put a "i3-4130" on it and it should be faster than an "i7 880", or save a bit more money and go for a LGA1150 i5 CPU, but they start a about 200$ + the costs of the board.

I know it\s an old motherboard but my plan was to put an i5 750 overclocked to 3.7 ghz on it. Although they dont produce them anymore, i can't really get one. So that means im going to have to buy a new motherboard, which is going to cost me another months worth. F*** this why do i even bother making a PC.

I Think i would get a new motherboard and a new cpu if i where you :)

An example could be:

The fx6300 with a gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P motherboard.

This sould cost about 170usd.

Hope this helps :)
