Budget gaming mouse

any mouse in existance can work as a gaming mouse. you really don't need all the high end 1200+ dpi mice on the market to be competitive.

the only benefit people might see on a high dpi mouse is more precision, however, this is only if you have rock steady hands. most people have quite a bit of jitter when trying to minutely move the mouse plus the drag on the mousepad doesnt help matters. in windows and in game you can adjust the speed of your cursor to match your preferences so if you so choose the 400dpi would work fine.

i'm partial to logitech (and razer). i've heard good things about the mx518 (and i've had a mx1000). i've had the opportunity to use the microsoft mice (and dell mice) and each has worked in turn. the most important thing is to find one that is comfortable. go to a local store and try your hand on a few.

i can even attest to getting fragged by someone using a wired keyboard, wired led mouse that was bought for only $10 for both. Skill (and setup) come into play more than dpi.
