Hi there,

I have to make a budget gaming pc for a nephew. Thought would share it here for compatibility advice.

---------------------------------------------------
INTEL DUAL CORE E5200 2.5Ghz (2MB CACHE - 800Mhz FSB)

INTEL DG41RQ (LGA775-SND+AGP+GIGA LAN-1333MHZ FSB) PCX SLOT

2 x CORSAIR XMS2 CM 1GB-6400/800 BUS XMS XTREME SPEED GAMING MEMORY

XFX GeForce PCX 9800GT 512MB (256-BITS) DDRIII
----------------------------------------------------

Has anyone experienced any hitches in this combination? If yes, what component should be changed without effecting budget too much.

thanks for you time.

regards,
izach

Solution
Intel CPU with Intel mainboard should be smooth sailing. I would consider the e6300 for $13 more as the 1066 FSB (easily overclocks to 1333) will allow the 9800 GT to use its gaming muscle where the e5200 would slightly hold it back.

It might also be worth considering 4 gigs of memory instead of 2 since it's so cheap. Also, since the 9800gt is around $100, it's also worth looking at an ATi 4850. On newegg, XFX has a 4850 listed at $109. It's considerably faster than a 9800gt.

I would really suggest saving up a little more and getting a Phenom II x2 550 CPU (100$) /w matching mobo and memory. It'll be a tad more expensive, but will play much better and last longer.

+1 on the 4850 instead of the 9800gt
+1 on 4gb memory
