Budget Gaming PC Build (Good for High End)

Hi,

Wondering if this is a good build for around £800. I still need a motherboard, as I don't know which one to get, so if I could have any suggestions for motherboards, that would be great.

Also, is that processor worth it, or should I get an FX-8350? I will be using this for gaming only really and have been told that games don't really need the threading in intel CPUs.

Also, any suggestions for better performance for around the same price would be good.

I just build a pc for my cousin;
ASUS Sabertooth R2.0 990FX mobo
FX-8350 cpu
Nvidia 970 GTX
Energon 650w psu (Cheap as fuck.)
2x4gb 1866 mhz Kingston HyperX ram.
NZXT H440 case.
Asus 24" screen

He used around 848 pounds, here in Denmark where it is a bit more costly.

probably I5 but for this build will it be used for muti-tasking becuase amd chips are good when comes to divivding workloads throught that vishea core. I personally have an amdfx8350 with a cmhyper 212 evo and is stays cool never getting above 45 intense gaming. reccomend the chip. and for a motherboard go with this one... ASRock 980DE3/U3S3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard If it fits... ALWAYS CHECK CASE COMPATIBILITY its atx so its a pretty common form facctor Happy building hope i helped

Oh with thats info coming to light get that mobo... Great case selection thats gonna be ne heck of a gaming machince just put an fx 8350 and that motherboard better for the price you know.. But make sure and ge a lie bit better psu to power that beast

you have a great build. the 4690k will destroy the 8350 in almost everything (probably everything)

just get a better power supply. The Seasonic M12ii 620 is nicer

as for a motherboard, get the Asus Z97-A or MSI Z97-GAMING 5

whatever you chose regardless of brand defenity invest in beter psu and make sure all of your parts like ram ae comatible with any of hose motherboards and quick question do you plan on overclocking?

Actually just bought that S340 case, it's awesome! Really nice case!

If I were you, I would pick a better GPU, maybe 290x, 290 or if you can get it 970 GTX.
280x is not worth it imo.

Also, pick FX-8350 instead of the i5 and use the sparechange on a better GPU or whatever you want.

Remember the S340 DOES NOT have a bay for DVD-drives.

Ram heatsinks are too tall for that cooler. Evga 600b would be better than that CX 600. Paying too much on that 280x, when you can get a 290 for less.

I believe so yes.

My cousins build with the sabertooth 990fx and 8350 from AMD, just got 8100 points in 3dmark 2013, high end gaming pcs get around 8500 or 9000, not quite sure, but that ish.

Yes with a 290 it should be. 3gb of vram is enough for new games on high to medium

Well, if he is spending that kind of money, he should imho buy a 4gig videocard. For futureproofing.
