Hey guys,
I'm looking to build a decent budget gaming PC and this is what I've come up so far..

Case: Thermaltake V3 VL80001W2Z
Motherboard: Asus B85M-G
PSU: 500W Antec VP500PC
CPU: Intel Dual Core Pentium G3258
GPU: Radeon HD 6950 1GB GDDR5 (already have one)
HDD: Toshiba 500GB Sata 3 32MB
RAM: 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz

Looking to overclock the G3258 to around 4Ghz.
Any opinions on this build? should I change anything? Thanks!

You might be able to flash that 6950 to 6970. It was one of the last AMD GPUs that you could BIOS mod that way and unlock the extra shaders/processors. Some are locked though and it won't work.

Look up the make/model and see if anyone has done it before modding yours.

The G3258 + a CPU Cooler (say the Hyper TX3) combines for a cost of $75. Just pony up the extra $30 for an i3 and skip the overclocking. Also, for a PSU make sure you get something from the Tier 1 or Tier 2 list.

The problem is, I'm at the very limit of my budget so I can't get the i3 (in my country the difference is about 70$ US, which is too much).. also forgot to mention that I have the PSU already.

As for the motherboard, I only have a choice between the Asus B85M-G, Asrock H81M-HDS/H81 Pro/H81M-DGS/Asrock H91M-Plus/Asrock H91M-S1/.. between those which is the best for the G3258? I've seen that they support OC but not sure which one I should pick

the best of course is the asus b85m-g, do not buy asrock mobs
about the cpu... i told you to get i3 bcs new games do NOT run at dual-cores i3 used hp so it has 4 threads instead of 2

not anymore, asrock is not anymore a daughter-company of asus and asrock mobs are very low-quality compared to asus ones

So I should change the g3258 to the i3 4160? does it make such an enormous difference that I should get it instead?
Edit: should I also overclock the i3? and how overclockable is it with that mobo?

yep, if you find money i would definetly get i3, also the i3 is 'locked' it cannot be overclocked. But i told you, get the i3 bcs the pentium will not be able to play new games due to 2 threads
