Girlfriend is looking to get into PC gaming after using mine, she wants to play games like Smite + Minecraft at fairly high settings. Wondering what is good start for someone looking to play these games who currently owns nothing for PC Gaming.

I have already looked into prebuilts like.. http://www.chillblast.com/Chillblast-Fusion-Spartacus-Gaming-PC.html as it comes with the peripherals, but was wondering if it could save me money/produce something much better if we built the thing ourself.

Edit: We are from the UK, budget of probably about £500-600 lower if possible and she needs the peripherals too.

You could in the long run. Minecraft uses hardly anything so won't need anything hectic.
If you want to play other Games you might need more than standered.
What is your budget?
Where you from?
Do you need everything(inc a monitor)

Okay I will do a build for you.
That pre-built is quite a decent one.
Will see where I can improve and what I can do for you

Just black is good, it would be great for it to look pretty smart.

this is a decent 630 quid build. Has an SSD with OS. No rebates either.

Both are over budget which doesn't help the OP much AND, that prebuilt is horrible. I don't know why you recommended it but it has a poor PSU and 1333 speed ram.

OP IF you need something very specific please post it. If you need a monitor or anyting like that post it as well 😉

-In the optional tab, youll find your monitor and wifi adapter.
-In the software tab, youll find your windows 8.1
-In the service tab, youll find your mouse and keyboard combo along with an €10 PC assembly fee (or de-select and build it yourself to save €10)
Assembly is currently on offer, normally charges €30 for this.

Includes
1080p Monitor (1920x1080)
Mouse + Keyboard combo
Windows 8.1
WiFi Adapter
Good Graphics Card
Decent CPU
8GB ram (2x4) 1600 MHz
450 Watt PSU
DVD Drive
1TB HDD 7200 RPM

Decided to go with AMD as some games requires more than 2 cores, and for your budget and what you needed with it, it wouldve being hard getting in an quad core intel cpu.

Price: €827 = £598
They will pre-build the system before shipping, they also ship to UK.

This build is better and £70 cheaper than the pre-build one you lined. If your budget allows for £670/€926 (which is what the pre-build costs that you linked) I could select much better components which would be FAR better than the pre-built system you linked.

Consider this solid, no compromise build, with all quality components, for extra £39.84 over your budget. Gives great value for the money you spend.

Notes:

- A balanced complete build with great 24 Inch Monitor, Gaming Mouse/Keyboard.
- The default CPU cooler that comes with Intel G3258 will do a fine job. This processor is a budget gaming beast, which can be easily overclock anywhere between 4.2-4.4Ghz, after updating the motherboard BIOS.
- The Gigabyte MSI Z97 Guard Pro has a better on-board audio solution, provides great future upgrade path leading to Haswell/Haswell Refresh/Broadwell i3/i5/i7 non-overclock/overclock K processors.
- For games like Smite & Minecraft, the MSI R9 270X is a overkill, but gives her the option to explore any modern titles if she wants, that too for a great price £128.94. This card is slightly behind in performance than the GTX 960, nevertheless a great mid-range 1080p graphics card that is capable to play any modern games with high graphical fidelity.
- The BenQ is a 24" Full HD, 1080p, TN Panel, 2ms response time, flicker-free (great for longer gaming sessions with reduced eye fatigue) budget gaming monitor.

Cheers!
