Hello everyone!

I'm trying to build a gaming system for my friend but she is on a tight budget. Our budget sits around 450 euros. After some research I've concluded on the cpu and gpu.

The cpu is going is be the i3 4170 and gpu the gigabyte Geforce GTX 750 Ti Windforce edition.
I chose this cpu beauce I think its the best value for money cpu with more than 2 threads we can afford. 2 cores are a little outdated for a new pc- no matter how tight the budget is. And 4-core amd's need an aftermarket cooler which raises the price.
The reason I chose that gpu is simple: its the best gpu we can afford with our budget, after concluding with the i3..

So, this cpu/gpu combo costs 250€, meaning we have 200€ left for everything else.
We dont need a monitor or any peripherals. She also has an old case.
I feel like giving most of the money for the cpu and gpu. the rest doesnt need to be top notch stuff.

I've concluded to a build similar like this:

CPU: Intel i3 4170 - 122€
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 750Ti - Windforce 2 GB - 131€
Motherboard: Asus H81M-C - 55€
RAM: Mushkin 997030 8GB(2x4) DDR3-1600 DUAL ESSENTIALS SERIES - 31€
HDD: Toshiba Sata 3 500GB - 40€ (First time I see those HDD's)
SSD: ?? is a 60GB SSD worth getting for the windows and 1-2 games? They go for around 35€
Subtotal:~415€
PSU: Ok, this is the difficult part. Since the gpu uses the windforce aftermarket cooler, its listed it needs a minimum 400w psu. You think a relative good 400W psu will be sufficient for this build? The psu market here is pretty messed up. I cant find any good psu that I know of for ~50€.

I'd love to hear some suggestions for a psu. These are the websites i'm looking to buy from:
http://www.e-shop.gr/ - Its a shop I can physically go in and buy stuff-no shipping costs.

~~Please take a quick look at this post if u want to use those websites: (if the shop isn't located in athens the shipping cost(~8€) is around equal to the difference from the other store for most parts)
https://www.skroutz.gr/
http://www.bestprice.gr/

Should I leave the SSD and get a better psu? Or maybe should I leave the HDD for later? I can't decide. I will maybe drop the 1 ram stick for later to also get a 20€ case.

What do you think of that build in general? Thanks for reading and have a nice evening.

Can you clarify, which psu are you getting? And which case are you getting?

If your friend is on a tight budget, forget about the ssd. She can save up some money and buy another, larger, faster one down the road. It isn't necessary for what she needs it for atm. But ultimately it is her money, if she wants and ssd right now, it's her decision. It's my 2 cents anyway that she should save some money, stick with the 1tb drive I linked, and...

Forget the ssd if you are on such a tight budget.

Here is a great psu, from the first site you listed. I would totally go with it: http://www.e-shop.gr/psu-seasonic-s12ii-430-bronze-430w-p-PER.640379

As for everything else, it looks good. I would wager all the latest gen hardware is more pricey in greece atm, so the 4170 is a wonderful choice, good pick. It's basically performance wise, identical to the 6100. Mushkin ram is ok, great on a budget, and the 750ti is the king of budget cards.

However, for 5 euro more, you could swap out that hdd and double the storage and get this: http://www.e-shop.gr/hdd-western-digital-wd10ezrz-1tb-caviar-blue-sata3-p-PER.303160 , which is TOTALLY worth it. Toshiba drives are great, but I readily prefer WD anyday, and for only 5 euro more. No brainer.

Oh and definitely keep the 8gb of ram, it's not worth saving such a paltry amount of money.

That drives him way over budget. You shouldn't be concerned about wasting money on an ssd when on such tight budgets. Why buy a cheap small ssd now, when you can save up and in the future get a good quality, larger ssd. They are the most unnecessary part in budget builds.

Also OP, can you link us the case so we can see whether it is worth keeping?

I just checked the case ... its not worth keeping -.-
She is getting a 20€ case.
thanks for recommending the psu - we will go with that.
That puts us at 460€ with no ssd. Maybe she will get one later.

So for the record, I just found a 120GB SSD for 45€- would it be worth for a future upgrade?

I'm getting the Seasonic 430W for 60euros.
Let's not worry about the case. Without the ssd we can get a decent one and still be in budget. We aren't sure about the case yet- she wants to find one that looks good.
She agreed to get the ssd later. I was asking about the ssd to be able to tell her how much money she has to save up before getting one.
Thanks

The sites you listed don't give me much to work with. But I scoured them fairly well, and found a couple of really good ones:
http://www.e-shop.gr/case-zalman-z12-black-p-PER.810824
http://www.bestprice.gr/item/2154737589/aerocool-aero-500.html

Those picks all had outstanding features for their prices points, side window, tool less hdd bays, more than 2 fans including controllers in some cases. These next ones all had those features, except for the side window, all 5 of them(total) are great options for that price range:

https://www.skroutz.gr/s/5411671/Thermaltake-Versa-H23.html
http://www.bestprice.gr/item/2153962215/thermaltake-versa-h22.html

Lastly, this is just if she wants something lower in height, a cube design:
http://www.bestprice.gr/item/2154687156/powertech-pt-231.html

Of course though, it ultimately comes down to if she likes the look of it, you don't want to be staring at something you hate visually, even if it does come with all the bells and whistles. These are just some of the finer cases I found, all I can do is try and suggest something that might catch your eyes. Oh and sorry, but a couple are a few euro over the budget, but I considered it worth it for what you're getting :)

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I'm looking forward for her choosing a case, I personally would choose the cube one :)
We will be ordering today, so next week I get to build the rig :)
I'm summing up the specs here:

CPU: Intel i3 4170 - 122€
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 750Ti - Windforce 2 GB - 131€
Motherboard: Asus H81M-C - 55€
RAM: Mushkin 997030 8GB(2x4) DDR3-1600 DUAL ESSENTIALS SERIES - 31€
HDD: WD Sata 3 1TB - 51€
PSU: Seasonic S12II 430W - 60€
Case: Not yet decided - 30-40€
Total: 480-490€

Since you answered all my questions, could you answer this last one too? What ssd would be suitable for this build in the future? Roughly how much money should she save up?

The only ssd I can recommend in good conscious is samsung's 850 series. For her build, the 250gb variant of the 850 evo series is perfect, and is currently retailing in the US for just under $90. Or, there is a popular new release from pny that I have been following since it's launch last week that looks great, although I don't know if it's available near you yet. The safe and tried bet though is to go for the 850 evo. The 850 series is probably the best ssd line on the market.

I'm glad my case suggestions helped! Good luck with the build and everything, I hope it all goes smoothly :)

If you need any more help, just post back here, hopefully you won't need to though!

Thank you so much! I own the samsung 850 250gb SSD so I totally know what you mean.
Anyway, she did order today so we are going to build sometime next week :)
Everything will go well ofcourse :D
As for the SSD, future will show if she is going to need one or not :)

Oh, I forgot to tell you she ordered the Aerocool aero 500 case too
