I need a Budget Gaming PC under $1000 that can play games @ 2560 x 1600 high settings. So here's what I got so far:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1CPP5
CPU: Intel Core i5-3350P 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor ($179.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H61M-S1 Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($31.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($44.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Toshiba 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($44.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card ($640.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Rosewill FB-03 ATX Mid Tower Case ($19.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 430W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($24.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer ($19.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $999.92

If you guys can suggest a cheaper and more powerful machine, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch! :)

aim to spend around the same amount of money on your cpu and gpu. you are overbuying with your gpu and underbuying with your cpu. get a i5-4670k cpu and a lga 1150 gigabyte or asus mobo to go with it. then, get a gtx 770 or gtx 760 windforce.

You have a point. However, I believe that the i5-3350p + GTX 780 will perform better than an i5-4670k + GTX 770 on most games. I just want to get the most powerful gaming machine with a budget of $1000.

Unfortunately, I don't have a budget for a better PSU. I trust the Corsair PSU to deliver 90% of it's load for several hours of gaming. Moreover, I won't be doing any overclocking or parts upgrading in this PC ever. I will just be building a new one when the GTX 800 series comes out.

P.S. I heard that the GTX 800 series will have an integrated ARM CPU. By then, my technique of buying a cheap CPU and an expensive GPU will be even more successful, as the GPU will be less dependent on the CPU.

your right it will be a better performer to start with, but i would go with the 4670k and gtx 770 (which will give you great gaming power) it gives you more room for upgrading power in 6 months or 1 year time where you will be able to overclock the 4670k and sli a gtx 770 (when they drop in price) which will then perform better than your 3350p and gtx 780
