Budget Gaming PC Upgrade

So I have decided that I will be upgrading my PC, as it is fairly rubbish, with a Core 2 Duo and an 8500gt. So I have came up with what I find a reasonable upgrade, and I would very much appreciate if some of you could give me tips. So my main question is: Can this run games such as BF4? I will be running at 1440x900, and I don't care if its low quality. I will be doing extremely light work, such as Word, and gaming. No work that will be intensive on the cpu, however I still would prefer a quad core. Also, before I give you the build, note that I live in Australia.

It would be best if it was kept below $400, however if its a little bit over, say $410-$420, it would be fine.

An AMD quad core (750k) should be around 100$. HD 7770 ? I hear it's great for most older games at mid-high settings. Other than that 8 GIGs of RAM is pretty much a must for max performance (dual channel).

I just built a rig for a gamer friend of mine with not a lot of spare cash with those components and she seems to be extremely pleased. I was surprised with the 750K's performance myself to be honest, given its complete lack of L3 cache and pretty small L2 cache.

Or you could get an FX-6000 or 4000 series for a lot more cache. I'd recommend the 6000 since it's got 8 megs L3 vs the 4000's 4 MBs, plus it's a 6 core.

A few things to note
-We unfortunately do not have any last gen graphics cards in Australia, excepting the nVidia 650 and under. So we only really have the R7/R9 and 700 series.
-The reason I picked the CPU is cos it's an APU of course, if I i just wanted a quad core CPU I would go for an i5 as I prefer Intel
-And lastly I was planning to later add a GPU to this system, forgot to mention that :/

Then get an 5800k. Pretty much the best APU you can get without ruining yourself. Though, with an APU, dual channel is absolutely mandatory, because the APU uses system RAM for its video card. Single channel will slash the memory speed in 2, and thus the graphics side of it will run like some old ISA card 😀.

I'm sure he's already aware of the RAM situation, as he chose a dual channel 2133mhz kit.

Oh sorry, I didn't check the PCbuilder thingy. Frankly, that APU is not worth the extra cash. It's not too much faster than the 5800 and it costs almost twice as much.

Fair enough. Luckily the 5800k is one of the older parts you can even BUY in Aus
