Hello there, been looking at building a Budget gaming PC for a month now and about to make the splash, I have so far been going with an overclocked i3 bundle to do this but not to sure about it due to the retailer not wanting to give out any information whatsoever on how it is overclocked (I was just asking for the voltages they are using so I can check their overclock was not going to fry my board / cpu).

Upon asking for some advice elsewhere I came up with this build, its about £1 under my budget:

https://www.aria.co.uk/WishList/onWF45_-9b3dsHaU26Efsg,,

Now I know what your going to say already, get an i5 2500k, well a sandybridge system is not within my budget, there is no option to wait and save as I sat down with my wife and we agreed upon a budget I could have as this is for me and me alone so going back and asking for more would just be taking the piss.

How will this perform on wow on ultra settings whilst 25 man raiding, in Battlegrounds, and whilst in cities and solo leveling, also all on ultra settings?

And how will it perform with Crysis and CoD:Black ops on decent to high settings?

Thanks

Einholt

Lucky for you that you posted on the North America forums and not the UK for the fact today is your lucky day. Computer gaming > wife :p

Now lets get you that 2500k that you deserve, and while were at it...let's get you a better graphics card eh. :)

Yep I have an optical drive, thanks for all the effort by the way!

Right, with scans delivery charge on the i5 its only £2 cheaper than aria and the same with a few other bits so just buying from aria and ebuyer my total with delivery comes to £677 =/ thats even with an extra £10 saving on W7 from buying more than £100 worth of components.

Also I added two yate loon case fans as want some decent cooling in the case.

Hmmm cannot think where I can cut back to save any money...

http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx <--- not sure how far away you live from Scan, but it says here you can pick it up at the sales counter.

It would cost more to drive there than the delivery, anyway if I get it I will get the cpu from aria as the price difference is £2.

Well I talked to my wife this morning and she did not actually seem to put out by the idea of an extra £50 if it meant it would be longer before I upgraded / replaced it :bounce:

So at stock what kind of performance do you think I will see in games with the 1gb 460 gtx?

at 1024x768 with that gpu you should be able to max most games on ultra settings. Now with a 1920x1080 monitor though you are gonna be in the middle of the pack. It will give you fairly good performance in most games. You dont need to worry about WoW that gpu should run it on medium settings to high and never lag on you no matter what you are in. Now if you push it to ultra and go into battle grounds I can not garuntee you wont bring that card to its knees.

I am impressed though Hiya for pricing out such a quality build in his price range. The only suggestions I can make is may be wait on your graphics card. Nvidia is releasing their new gtx 560 on the 25th in America (not sure about other places but UK should be similar) This might drive down the original gtx prices even further along with ati options.

Though I prefer nvidia I have heard this card is an amazing card.
