Hello, I'm planning to build a Haswell PC over using ivy-bridge since I think I would regret not keeping up to date with the newest releases. I'd like to keep my budget around $800 I live in Canada so unfortunately, shipping will cost a lot if it's from sites in the USA, and prices here are abit more. I already have an ASUS HD 7770 Graphics card so keep GPU off the list. I won't be playing any hard core games such as BF3 or crysis 3 in ultra settings, merely just league of legends once in a while. I'd mostly be using this PC in more of the video/media department. Firstly, I have no clue as to which Haswell i5 processor to go that's worth it's price to performance. Motherboards are also confusing and hard to distinguish which to use, all i know is that I won't be using dual graphics card, and i'll need a LGA 1150 mobo. Confused with RAM compatibly as well, but preferable 8 GB @ 1600Mhz at , for better performance i'll get more if I need to. I'd like it make this PC future Proof so I can get DDR4 when it comes out and hopefully my mobo will be compatible. Lastly, i'm not sure if I should get 1 120GB SSD and 500G~1TB SATA Drive, Or have 2 60G SSD (Raid 0 Config) With the SATA Drive. If anyone can provide a list build for me, and give further info on anything that'd be great!

Here you are. Included a DVD burner in case you may need one to install OS etc. With this cooler, Z87 motherboard and unlocked processor you'll be able to overclock your system, if you so desire. With an SSD, raid 0 really isn't necessary as speeds are already huge. Any questions, just let me know

Thanks for the quick reply and the list ! I'd like to have some knowledge about building PCs myself so when researching in Mobos, what are typical things you look for? And how do I know that the PSU is compatiable with Haswell? Can you run me through what was going through your head when you were picking out my parts lol

Well, first things first. If you want to overclock your processor you're going to want to pick a processor that ends in 'K', such as the 4670K above. You'll also need a better cooler than the stock one Intel provide, and the Hyper 212 Evo is the perfect balance between price and performance. The motherboard has the Z87 chipset which is the chipset for overclocking, and has an 1150 socket which Haswell utilises. There is a list here for Haswell certified PSUs, the one I chose just so happens to be one: http://techreport.com/review/24897/the-big-haswell-psu-compatibility-list
Haswell will work on other PSUs, it just won't be able to utilise the power saving mode. I'm off to work now so can't go as in depth as I'd like. Any questions, just drop me a PM and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. :)
