Hey guys!
I'm going to build a new computer soon, and i'm in trouble ;-)
I've these current parts:

CASE: An old shit, i don't even know the name...
PSU: SilverPower SP-S650 @ 650W, 80+ Bronze
GPU: MSI Gaming GeForce GTX 760 Twin Frozr
HDD: Western Digital Green @ 1TB
RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical (2 x 8 GB)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i

As you can see, i only need a CPU and a MOBO. I think i'll buy an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 and a FX-6300, do you think this is a good option? Do you think that i can get over 4 GHz? If yes, how much?

Thank you for reading this, and maybe dropping an answer! :)

i can't say for sure cause i haven't used ASUS AMD mobos but, i can say i had a phenom ii x4 960T with a gigabyte 970A-UD3 mobo and it was absolutely solid.

however, im not trying to say that gigabyte is better than ASUS by any means. i'm pretty sure the ASUS mobo will perform well

the h100i should easily take your FX-6300 to max overclocks.

how far your overclock will go is depends on the chip itself :)

oh i didn't realize you were buying a new cpu & mobo.

assuming you're going to be purchasing the CPU/MOBO for games, it really depends on what games you want to be playing.

for example, Battlefield 4, is rather demanding on the CPU (multiplayer) and if you were looking to play this game most of the time, i'd probably recommend you aim for an FX-8320 or an i5 4670k (if you have a microcenter near you).

if you choose to go with the FX-6300, that motherboard should do just fine.

i mean, like i said, it just comes down to the CPU. each CPU is unique, for example: one FX-6300 may hit 5GHz, however, another FX-6300 may not be able to reach 4.6GHz.

if it's the FX-6300, the H100i should be able to take the FX-6300 you bought to its max overclock.

of course, the higher you overclock your CPU, you'll have to make sure that the temperatures are not exceeding your CPU's max limits, which is around 60C-62C.
