Hi All..

First of all Happy new year!

I will be building a PC for my brother but he have a very strict "$800" budget. No more.. no less. Not to boast, but Im used in building $1500-2000 PC in the past So I would like to ask your opinion... which of the 3 options makes the bang for the buck and best combo for budget gaming pc build ? Or anything else you can suggest.

These are the deal breakers in budget.. else like case, psu, etc... just the cheapest yet proven items will be used.

  1. R3 3100 (4 cores) + rx 5600 xt / rtx 2060
  2. r5 5600 (6 cores) + rx 5500 or gtx 1660
  3. r5 5600 (6 cores) + rx 5600xt / rtx 2060 + A320 mobo
  4. Other suggestion ?

Solution
If you need only these parts and they have to be new, then i have this proposition for you:
CPU, GPU, MoBo, RAM, PSU

In this building parts you have proven good parts which are harmonizing very well with each other and i have included 16GB RAM and a fairly good enough PSU for under 800$.
The PSU might sound a bit much but i guess a little more silent PSU would be nice so i thought a little bit more wattage would stay cooler and more "quiet".

If you need a complete PC build for 800 $ then i would have to know that. Or if you just want this 3 Parts then i have this combination for you:
CPU, MoBo, GPU

It's staying under 800$ and you get:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (6-core) + Rx 5600xt + B550 MoBo

so you would have here the most...
And a Happy New Year to you too!

The key thing to note is building a balanced system, whereby nothing is outperforming the other component. Since you're going with a Ryzen platform, I'd say stick to B450 chipsets or B550 chipsets. Then choose a dual channel DDR4-3200MHz ram kit and don't pair it with an A320 chipset.

You will also need to look a quality PSU for your build.

On second thoughts, you should stylize your post like this thread for a better response from the community.

Yeah agree... that's why Im looking for opinions which is balance of the 3 options. Its more on...

  1. Quad Core but better GPU
  2. 6 cores but step down on GPU a bit
  3. 6 cores with better CPU/GPU but step down on motherboard.

PSU, etc... I dont have issues coz I already have idea what to use. The 3 options above are same price to be honest.. its more on mix and match that I dont have any idea which is better for gaming.

I'll try next time. Currently working from home when I started this thread... just sipping coffee at the mean time while browsing. Hehe.

Hello @gat3keeper,

it would help to know if you mean a budget of 800$ for only these 3 part-combinations or do you mean the budget is adressing to the whole PC Build. Because I'm not sure.

Greetings.

P.S. I have something in mind but that's why i would need fo know if it's addressing the whole build or only this parts. Ah and myabe knowing if the parts have to be new or could be "used" would help as well.

If you need only these parts and they have to be new, then i have this proposition for you:

It's staying under 800$ and you get:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (6-core) + Rx 5600xt + B550 MoBo

so you would have here the most BANG for your buck and all of this parts are proven and good. The RX 5600xt Powercolor Red Dragon is performing very well and a good gpu, the B550 is good enough for the RYZEN 3600 and you don't really need a 5600x or 3600x. The 5600x is overpriced right now. Same is going with 3600x. The Ryzen 3600 is VERY much cheaper and it's performance is not much worse then 3600x.

I hope i could help you well and if you need some more information feel free to ask. :)

Greetings!

Thank You.. this is a solid suggestion.

$800 for the whole PC (Monitor not included)

Parts needs to be new.. and the parts I mentioned are the only ones missing. Probably $500-600 left for GPU/CPU/MOBO.

Thank You.. this is a solid suggestion.

@gat3keeper
That's fine if i could be of any help. But if you say only 500-600$ would stay for the CPU/GPU/MoBo Combi then i would go with that:
CPU, MoBo, GPU - but gtx1660

It's the same combination of CPU and MoBo and the Radeon RX 5600xt would be changed to the Asus GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB Phoenix OC

So the combo would look like this:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (6-core) + ASUS Geforce GTX1660 (With OC) + B550 MoBo

And for 630$ you would have a solid option. Personallly would take the radeon rx 5600xt but the 170$ price mark-up is speaking another language right now.

The last question would be, if the build would have to be done now or for what specific time it is asked for? I'm asking, because right now the market for graphics cards is really f**ked up and normally you could expect equal prices for the Radeon. But scalpers are buying all "really good Cards" right now and that's why the prices for cards are really high right now.

If you could convince your brother for a used graphics card then you could get so much more for the bucks! and i mean MUCH more.
For example you could get a used GTX 1080 for about 250-350 $ Which would be a BIG performance gain. I have googled and found in 5 mins. a used ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080 for about 300$. Better performance then the beforementioned 2 cards and cheaper!

And maybe you could be lucky enough and find a used one with still good waranty and that's just like new.

Maybe a thing for you and your brother to think about. :)

Greetings

This is a copy paste from a build I posted yesterday. You might see a component or two that you like on here. With your budget along with the shortage of gpu's ... it makes it pretty much impossible to post a halfway decent build for 1080P gaming.
