Hi all,

About a year ago I had my PC build with this forum's help, and it is perfect. That is why I want to ask for your help again.

I want to have a PC built for my sister, she would use it for drawing and designing. She does use the internet a lot, watches videos, movies and copies files a lot, too. She plays games like The Sims 4 and Minecraft, so the PC has to be able to handle that smoothly. She is interested in newer games, too, like My Time At Portia.

The budget is 650-700 € (210.000-230.000 HUF), it can be slightly above but only if it is really necessary.

My requirements are:
  • Crucial 500GB MX500 CT500MX500SSD4 M.2 SSD (or maybe a cheaper, equally good remplacement if there is one)
  • Also a 1-2TB hard drive (maybe Seagate 2TB 64MB ST2000VX008 ? It is barely more expensive than a 1TB version)
  • 16 GB RAM
  • I would think a better motherboard and processor is much more important than a higher end video card. Preferably the video card still has to be at least decent
  • Decent cooling
  • Corsair 550W CX550M maybe?
  • Basic DVD reader/writer
  • Computer case can be cheap, if it works it does not matter
This has to be a complete, reliable PC, so if I left anything important out, please also include that. If my requirements do not fit in the budges, I am open to suggestions.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Okay, so how does this look?

Modecom Logic K1 AT-K001-10-0000000-0002
Corsair 550W CX550 CP-9020121-EU
AMD Ryzen 5 2600X YD260XBCAFBOX
GIGABYTE B450M DS3H
Kingston 16GB DDR4 3200MHz HyperX Fury Black HX432C18FB/16
nVidia | PNY GeForce GTX1050Ti 4GB GDDR5 GF105IGTX4GEPB
Crucial 500GB MX500 CT500MX500SSD1 SSD
Seagate 2TB 64MB ST2000VN004
Cooler Master Hyper H412R RR-H412-20PK-R2
Asus SDRW-08D2S-U Lite
Looks good, I would go with this power supply instead...
For things like SIMS4 and Minecraft and that other game that looks to not need a lot of power you can do without a video card and use one of the new Ryzen CPUs with Vega graphics, the 5 2400G is on sale now for $100 https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-Processor-Radeon-Graphics/dp/B079D8FD28

AM 4 motherboard GIGABYTE B450M DS3H

DDR4 RAM (will be fine with 8 gb) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0157UPYZ...&pd_rd_r=7ab76bd7-a8a2-11e9-bd85-01c75db0a092 <-- huge discount on this, then whatever case you want and the drive/power supply.

I see, thanks for the suggestion! How much can the Vega graphics handle? Would it run something like the Witcher 3 for example? What is its limit?

Would this build work? Does it really not need a video card besides the Vega graphics? Will it be able to handle modern games? Another game of interest is Cities: Skylines.

Witcher3 is a totally different type of game to run than SIMS4. The Vega graphics can run Witcher3 but not at high quality levels.
The power supply is OK if it's the new CX power supplies with the white label.
No need to spend money on the other cooler the one that comes with the CPU is fine.

I would not put a 2TB SSD in a budget build, with the main boot drive large enough for OS and programs a cheaper platter drive is fine for backups and file storage. Same thing for a case costing almost 100. Money should be spent on a better CPU or a video card, that is 200 extra there.

Well I found one supposedly good budget video card available at the store I will order from. It fits in the budget. Now the question is whether there are processors and motherboards more compatible with it, as I will no longer need the Vega graphics. (note: I want to keep the 16 GB RAM even if not necessary, I do not want to cheap out on that department)

Modecom Logic K1 AT-K001-10-0000000-0002
Corsair 550W CX550 CP-9020121-EU

If you are going with the 1050Ti, use the Ryzen 2600 for the CPU. Also you will want DDR4-3000MHz or faster RAM.

Looks good, I would go with this power supply instead. https://www.newegg.com/seasonic-foc...&ranSiteID=8BacdVP0GFs-ceNwuJ9hOKB7bcBOCil6xA Higher efficiency & much better quality for really cheap right now.

Thanks for the help. I ordered the PC.

I ended up settling on the Corsair though, because it is much cheaper on the site I ordered from (www.pcx.hu). I was already slightly over budget, so I could not afford the power supply you suggested.

And why do people feel the need to come and complain in an already solved topic?

I asked it if the card can run it at all, asking if it can handle it on minimum is not unreasonable. I also later edited my original post from Witcher 3 to Cities: Skylines, as it is more important, but the response was faster than my edit.
