Budget PC build in $400-500 --- for work (Autocad), movie, and dota2 on highest setting

I' m from Australia, I want to build a PC for work and some gaming. For working I mainly use Autocad and need to do a lot of Internet research. For gaming is only dota2 and CS.
My priority is speed and reliability.

Can someone please advise me some builds? I'm a first timer too.

For these uses and this budget the best cost / performance is going to be to buy a used workstation and upgrade. The best value these days will be LGA1366 as there are 4 and 6-core CPU's running at modern speeds- the X5687 is 4-core @ 3.6 /3.86GHz. The RAM for this series is triple channel DDR3 1066 or 1333 ECC.

Typical systems are: Dell Precision T3500, T5500, T7500 and HP z400, z600, z800. An example:

That is a particularly good one as it has the W3680 6-core @ 3.33 / 3.6Ghz and a Quadro 2000. For gaming you could sell the Quadro 2000 and find a used GTX 760 or 770.

The other approach is to find one of these system with a low end CPU and kangapoo GPU and disk for little money and upgrade. I have a Precision T3500 and T5500 and these cost originally US $ 53 and $171;

The PERC H310 SAS /SATA RAID controller ( US $50) converts the disk to 6GB/s

The Dell Precision Tx5-- series were designed for workstation uses such as AutoCad and server-level reliability, were beautifully made and run quietly. The single-threaded performance of LGA1366 is moderate for games today, but changing the GPU to a GTX can cure it.
