PSU: Corsair RM550x 550W
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z68AP - D3
Ram: Mushkin 4 x 4gb (16GB) DDR3
CPU: i7 2600k @4.4ghz
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB

im looking to upgrade cpu / motherboard / ram to bring my pc into the mordern world, im hoping to do this as cheap as possible ($500 max ~$300 preferred) AUD

the most intense gaming i play is Guild wars 2 which i believe is more cpu intense

any reccommendations / ideas / input on if its even worth doing is appreciated :)

Your budget isn't enough to get better CPU. But you can save some money, if you go with the cheapest MoBo and RAM (which i don't suggest). Like so:
