Hi there,

I'm headed back to school and hoping to build a system for multitasking and light gaming, with a clear upgrade path for the future.

I'm hoping to base it on Ryzen 2400g and a B450 series motherboard, but I am open to suggestions. I would like to overclock to get the most out of the APU. I'd like to make a solid base with great components and add extras in the future when I can afford it (SSD, liquid cooling, graphics card, etc) I would also prefer to get all the parts from Canadian sites or stores to avoid duty.

Is it possible to buy one 8gb stick of ram, and another matching one later? I know 16gb is preferable with the APU, but for the sake of the budget, I was hoping I could get away with it. This will never turn into a crazy gaming rig so I won't need 2 PCI-E slots or 4 DIMM slots. I'd prefer to keep it small and unobtrusive. I was thinking I'd like a Thermaltake Core V1 Mini ITX case or something similar, I don't really want a big boring rectangle case, but perhaps a nice case could be a future upgrade.

Hoping to keep the budget as low as possible, $800 CAD is my max but would prefer around $600. I have all the peripherals.

Can't wait to see what you guys come up with :)

Cheers

Not a bad start, but I would up the wattage on the PSU, for future GPU upgrades. $5 more gets you the 550w Focus vs the 450w. Changed the storage to a 480gb model. Also saved you some money on ram. $2 more, excluding any potential mail in rebates.
