Hey guys,

So I have a question about if getting the i5 2500k and this mobo

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130569

would be a good upgrade that doesn't get bottlenecked too much when used with a HD 6850.

I am currently running,

Phenom II x2 555 BE

2x4gig g-skill ddr3 1333

and the 6850

My ram, cpu cooler, and everything else will be kept from my earlier build. I was planning on getting a Phenom II 970, in the end I felt that the 2500k was a much better value.

On a side note I am using a Xigmatec Loki cooler and just wanter to check with the experts here on if I can use it to the 2500k, if not I will need a recommendation on that as well.

Thanks guys

Splendid
It should be a substantial upgrade, though you could easily just drop in a newer CPU like the Phenom II X4 955 BE and OC it. It's really your call there.

If the Xigamatec Loki works with Socket 1156 Intel CPUs, then it will work with the i5-2500K.

It works but not great just okay, I know the potential of these chips some perhaps it's best to get a recommendation on the cooler also

You didnt' mention the make & model of mid-ATX case you have.

If you are interested in CPU overclocking you want to stay away from the H67 motherboards.
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3 / ASUS P8P67 or P8P67-M / Asrock P67 Pro for overclocking options

Hey WR2, yeah. I was just not really feeling to the other upgrade because of the fact that I didn't have an upgrade path that had any room. I realized this was cheaper and that the reason I wasn't getting good performance on my 6850 was because the x2 just isn't strong enough. The case is a xigmatek asguard II

I have the loki and it doesn't work as well I'd like. I was thinking something like this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118090&cm_re=zalman_cpu_cooler-_-35-118-090-_-Product

But I'm not sure it it will fit, several people said that it was fairly large?
