Hello,

I m going to upgrade my cpu from core2quad q6600 to q9650 and overlock it to @3.6Ghz on my gigabyte g41m combo motherboard (rev 1.3) with cooler master hyper 212 evo air cooler.

I m confused between Gtx 1050ti and Gtx 1060. Whats graphics card do i choose so that it will not bootleneck my cpu.

And what amount of power do i need for both the GPU.

Other details-
Ram 8 gb zion 1600 Mhz
HDD- 1Tb
SMPS 350 watt old one, planned upgrade to 550 watt.

Monitor- LG 1366*768. VGA input (no HDMI) . No going to upgrade this one.

Thanks.

Honestly providing your cooler is good you can just OC the Q6600 by changing the FSB from 266 to 333 ... goes thraight to 3Ghz easily on most old systems and I would suggest a Gtx 1060 would give you a nice graphics boost.

Mess around with the old cpu first ... you might be surprised.

Mine ran at 3.2 Ghz for ages.

There will be a bottleneck regardless which GPU you choose. The old Core 2 quads don't have enough horsepower for either one of those cards. Nothing bad will happen. You just won't make full use of the video card until you upgrade to a more modern system.
