Budget upgrade gaming system

Hello!

Ive picked up the old machine of mine and wanted to keep playing csgo on it instead of on the laptop.

It is built of following items
P7P55D-e pro
i5 760 (clocked to ish 3ghz)
Gtx460 1gb (clocked to 800mhz)
Cl8-8-8-24 ddr3 corsair
Corsair ssd
Tagan 800W psu
Fractal design standardish filter chassis
System built ~09-~11


I was planning on doing an upgrade in order to be able to play mostly csgo on atlest 120fps with setting on medium-high@1920x1080 even if 10 smokes or molotovs are popped :)

My old system does not manage as probably is obvious.

Im all the way into intel/nvidia builds.

Was looking at i5 7400/gtx 1050.

Im on a tight budget, would love to keep as many of my old parts as possible(psu, mobo, chassis, disks, optical units) and only swap to parts required for upgrade. Wouldnt hurt if the system was a little future proof incase HL3 would be released but thats mostly a bonus. Familiar with some basic OC so if theres units like my old 460 which withstands some clocking its a bonus :)

USdollars cap would be 5-600. Less wont hurt but thats the limit.

What would you pick? :)

Do you mean my current setup is abme to be equipped with a gtx1050? Would there not be a conflict in pci-e bus matching or going for new higher gddr memory?

Im using a benq xl2410T 120hz monitor, which is why I want a stable 120fps :)

Im almost only into counterstrike. Sure some older games would be played occasionally, but im not a fan of the AAA games.

Whoa, this thread turned out to be giving more than expected, hell lotta thanks to you fellas!

Im on a Noctua NH-U12P which so far has provided great cooling. Would this piece manage to get clocked at frequencies above 3.0 you think?

Also, the GPU 1050, Ive noticed theyre available as both 2gb and 4gb, would I benefit more from picking one over the other?

And concerning RAM, is there any benefits in going 1x8 instead of 2x4? If i recall right, Theres 2 dual channels on my board

Yeah, that's a great cooler.
1x8GB is just 20% cheaper, dual channel which gives maybe 2% better FPS in extreme scenarios is the only benefit of two sticks.
It can run single channel just fine, just pop it in the second slot, usually the pairings are slots 2&4 primary, 1&3 secondary.
If you want to spend more on the GPU, the 1050Ti variant of the MSI LP is available on Newegg for $20 more I believe.

I find that extra 2gb for such small amount extra quite hard to resist, so Ill go for the TI version aslong as these cards can handle csgo :)

Do you have any experience of whether the card can handle the game with high graphical settings or not?

Me and my wallet owes you big time!

Hello again!

Would a 970 work aswell? Have noticed a few pre used cards available on some forums since the card has been out for a while.

Some comparisons tell the 970 is "better" in some aspects.
Would this card benefit to me perhaps?

My PSU sure wasnt expensive, but should I try to pick up a new one or do you think it will manage?

I guess pre used PSU come rather cheap, so a swap isnt necessarily an impossible action to take if required :)

Ill keep an eye open for 970s!
