Approximate Purchase Date: Today if possible (July 14, 2013)

Budget Range: About $650 Canadian After Rebates. We are picking everything up at Canada Computers (They have some of my parts cheaper than PCPartPicker says) so shipping isn't a problem. $750 Canadian after OS.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Internet Browsing, Video Editing, Word Processing

Are you buying a monitor: No. I have one.

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I am buying everything from Canada Computers In-Store but their prices are about the same or lower than everyone else.

Location: Ontario, Canada

Parts Preferences: Well known and reliable manufacturers

Overclocking: Maybe after buying a after market cooler later on.

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe if the 650 TI 2GB isn't powerful enough eventually.

Your Monitor Resolution: 1280x1024 (I know it sucks 😛, I will upgrade eventually)

Additional Comments: I would like it to be as quiet at possible without it getting hot.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: The current computer I have cannot do what I need this one to do.

Hi everyone I am building a computer for my Dad (Hopefully today) He want a computer where he can do his usual web browsing play around with editing videos he make on his Go Pro and a bit of word processing for recording his taxes and stuff like that. I have come up with this build so far and I think for $650 it is great for what he needs.

Here is what I have come up with:

CPU: AMD A8-6600K 3.9GHz Quad-Core Processor ($129.93 @ Canada Computers)
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A75 Pro4 ATX FM2 Motherboard ($56.36 @ Canada Computers)
Memory: Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($76.11 @ TigerDirect Canada)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($76.55 @ Vuugo)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2GB Video Card ($167.49 @ DirectCanada)
Case: NZXT Source 210 Elite (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($68.67 @ Newegg Canada)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 430W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($67.78 @ Newegg Canada)
Optical Drive: LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer ($19.77 @ Vuugo)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($110.03 @ TigerDirect Canada)
Keyboard: Logitech MK200 Wired Slim Keyboard w/Optical Mouse ($22.58 @ Canada Computers)
Total: $795.27

The RAM is actually 1600MHz 2X4GB but they didn't have it on the list. (It's the same price)

Please leave advice as soon as possible.

If you're not going to game, then a graphics card would be useless.
For browsing and general use though, a SSD would be very usefull.
