Currently my PC just isn't good enough for what I want to do, takes too long to render videos and is just worn out after 6 years of use.

Approximate Purchase Date: A few weeks, up to a month, have a lot of time really

Budget Range: £300 max, but can increase to £350 if there is a big benefit

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Light Gaming (Minecraft), Video Editing and Recording from my PS3

Parts Not Required: Everything outside the case, and HDD (currently 500GB), Graphics Card (Radeon 6570 2GB) and a DVD Drive, OS.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Any trusted UK website

Country: England, United Kingdom

Parts Preferences: by brand or type: None, just needs to be reliable

Overclocking: Yes, slight if possible. It's not needed, but I will if I can

SLI or Crossfire: No, really just unneeded

Monitor Resolution: 1024x768 or 1280x1024

Additional Comments: PC is not focused on gaming, I need the best results in video editing so I do not mind whether I have an AMD processor or Intel processor. I was really unsure of what to pick, currently have a Radeon 6570 2GB, DVD Drive and 500GB HDD that I can re-use.

Thanks, Dylan

Forgot to add that I render in 720p and I found an Intel i5-2500 for £120 so I was unsure whether to get one as it is said that AMD's Phenom II X6 was better for video editing. Ideally I can save some more money and increase the budget to £400 too, if that would help.

What about AMD? Or and Intel i3? I don't make videos every single day, and what is wrong with an AMD processor or an i5?

I viewed some benchmarks and used AnandTech's bench to compare, I found an i7-950 for cheap but the i5-2500 beat it, and AMD's Phenom II X6 was good, but it wasn't as good as it. So, I found the i5 was £120, and i7 was £200+, so do you have any suggestions on parts I could use with the i5, and if I can maybe fit the i7 in there as well, if I have enough money.

I will be overclocking, now found a great deal on the i5-2500K, only £145 from WAE+. I don't think I will be needing PCI-3, Radeon 6850 is probably what I will be going for if I upgrade my GPU, it's a good card and is now only £82!
