Budgeting question regarding custom build

If I wanted to build a pc with a GTX 1080, but I also need to buy every single component and peripheral (mouse, monitor, keyboard, etc), how much would my budget have to be?
Is under $2000 realistic? Or would it be a better idea to get a gaming laptop, which comes with all that?

Most likely 2k if not 4k. But my probable mix would be i7 7700k/gtx 1080 unless another one is better.

If you're building everything from scratch (no old parts), you can probably get under $2000, but you may have to compromise some places. Get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo for a cooler. You can pick up some Medium tower cases for under $60. There are some good monitors for under $130.
 
4k build, 1080ti will bottleneck any way, Ryzen 1600 is best bang for the money:
