Buffalo MiniStation 3.0 restore to another machine

I bought a new laptop and planning to restore my data on the Buffalo MiniStation to the new laptop running windows 8.1 from the old laptop (Windows 7). But the backup utility tool does not respond to the new OS. Any idea if the utility tool works with WIndows 8.1 yet?
