Hi

2 days ago I built my PC with all new parts, however it's never been running perfectly.
Ranging from web browser crashes (Firefox), explorer restarting & trying to open up various programs will result it that program instantly terminating. These can be reoccurring or minutes apart, with no pattern.

I've also had a few blue screens, they always occur AFTER I enter my windows login password before reaching the desktop. The PC has been running for less than 12 hours in total & I'm a complete loss to what maybe the issue.

The whole setup is running cool, never over 32 degrees. I've disabled XMP and nothing else is overclocked. Can anyone recommend a method or program to identify the cause issue?
It's a fresh build I don't understand what I've done wrong.
Also played Planetside 2 and turned on the FPS count, I was getting 40-50 fps at points although it always felt smooth. I imagine the game does some sort of auto detect when you first start the game for graphics, yet mine were all set to medium ... is that normal or a hint to it being the graphics card ?

Any help would be mucho appreciated, otherwise I'll have to wipe everything and fresh install windows AGAIN.

Solution

With my mobo, when installing drivers when there are already some on the system, it usually asks if I want to replace/repair existing drivers and it automatically installs the driver fresh that way. They should uninstall the current drivers automatically. If it's not that way on your mobo a clean install of windows should work just fine, and then you can install the drivers after that.

Are all of your drivers up to date? BSODS can be cause by old or incompatible drivers. First thing is to update all drivers. I had a similar issue with a build that was fixed by updating the LAN/Ethernet Driver. Remember, the drivers on the disc that comes with the board and video cards are not up to date.

Thanks for the replies guys

All drivers are up to date as the ones on the disk didn't seem to work, crashing on startup ect. So i did download fresh updates from the Asus website.
However even these didn't install perfectly yet the more windows updates that were applied the more drivers installed without fault.
I'm not thinking maybe I should of applied all windows updates before starting to install any driver.

I ran Memtest for 1 hour and it had no errors, nothing compared to the 3-4 you suggested though.
I've now uninstalled the graphic driver, yet i still get occasional explorer crashes and the like

You said they didn't install perfectly. Re-install each driver one by one and restart the PC when asked. The fact that your browser is crashing makes me think it could be the LAN/Ethernet driver.

I've just had 3 blue screens in a row

One said " Driver IRQL_Not_less_or_equal"
The other "A driver has overrun a stack based ...."
The third was just basic windows has encountered a problem

Does this help or should I just give up with a fresh install?

Thanks for the quick replies, as you can imagine this build isn't living up to my expectations this weekend

That leads me to believe that it has something to do with your drivers. Like I mentioned. Try re-installing all of your drivers one by one. Please make sure that you are definitely downloading the correct drivers for your board. Sometimes Mobo companies have multiple revisions of their motherboards and each have their own set of drivers. Be absolutely positive you are downloading your boards drivers. If that does not fix the issue than it may be worth biting the bullet and re-installing windows and all of the drivers on top of that. But I honestly believe fixing your drivers will be your best bet.
