Approximate PurchaseThis month
Budget Range$750 Before Rebates
System Usage from Most to Least ImportantProgramming, Virtualing, Basic graphic editing
Are you buying a monitorNo
Do you need to buy OSNo
Preferred Website(s) for Partsnewegg.com
LocationIndonesia
Parts PreferencesIntel CPU
OverclockingMaybe
SLI or CrossfireNo (Just integrated GPU, no need dedicated GPU)
Your Monitor Resolution1920x1080
Additional CommentsI know some will say "you just need Raspberry PI for programming" but that is not my case, I need fully loaded computer that can handle opening Visual Studio, Android Studio, and/or VS Code, and sometimes SQL Server Management Studio, and/or Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator while running 1 to 3 different browser with ~20 total tabs opened and 1 VM is booted in the background.
If you wondering why I need to open all of that, in my office I'am an [Android, IOS, Windows, Web] beginner Programmer that do all the stuff my self.

Here are the parts that I have planned to buy:
  • Intel Core i7-8700K (Do not know if this is overkill, maybe i5-8400 is sufficient)
  • Gigabyte Z390 UD
  • Ballistix Sport AT 32GB (2 x 16GB)
  • Samsung V-NAND SSD 960 EVO NVMe M.2 250GB
  • CORSAIR Series CX550M
  • CPU Cooler Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2
This build cost ~$950, but I need build that cost ~$750

but no graphics card ?
wtf

i would do a Ryzen 7 2700x 8 core and 16GB ram to start

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VYtPZR

$762

and that processor is way better than intel at running VStudio and multiple VMs, I know, I do it all the time at work. the 2700x is far superior under heavy workloads.

in fact I run a full build machine as a VM on a 2700x, gave it 2 cpu cores and 4 gb ram and it is FASTER than my older REAL build machine which has an older AMD 8 core processor!! not only that, my vm runs with many other vms simultaneously, developers developing and testing stuff in their own vms... it's fantastic.

You really do not need GPU when editing and compiling source code.

Actually I use AMD more than Intel in my life, but somehow I need Intel CPU to do some job (running hackintosh to compile iOS Project)
