Hi everyone,

My brother recommended I use this forum to get some advice on building my first gaming PC. I've played on consoles since the PS2 and currently own an Xbox One and PS4 - mainly for the exclusives - but have always enjoyed PC gaming on my sub-par desktop I got from Acer a while back.

I'm looking to run games like Rise of the Tomb Raider at a high setting, min. 4K res and 60+fps, maybe buy a good 21:9 4K monitor later on for shooters such as BF1 - in the meantime use a Sony 4K TV. I've checked out PC Part Picker and taken a look at some of the recommended builds. I'm willing to spend as much as £2,500 on something that'll last a while, ideally better than MS' Project Scorpio. Please let me know if my budget is realistic and your recommendations! I appreciate your help.

Cheers,

TomDR

If you want to play on a 4K setup, at 60fps at high, you will need a GTX 1080 card and a fast Core i5 or i7 CPU. Your budget should get you there.

There are a bunch of suggestions here http://www.tomshardware.com/news/toms-best-pc-builds-2017,33511.html

You can get to 4k gaming at a $2,000 (US currency and prices) but probably not at 60 fps with demanding games on high.

At 1440 resolution a $2,000 system should be able to play at max settings smoothly though.
