My PC is now about 10.5 years old. It's still working but I'd like to get a new one before it dies lol
I got great advice here when I bought it and it lasted me over 10 years so here I am again!

Approximate Purchase Date: Next few months. I could wait if there's some crazy new CPU generation or something like that coming soon.

Budget Range: Preferably under 2000.00$CAD but could go a bit past for a really nice build.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Mainly gaming

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Anything in Canada

Location: Montreal, QC (Canada)

Parts Preferences: Never had anything else than Intel for CPU

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: High enough so that the GPU isn't bottlenecked

Additional Comments: Gonna be playing games like Diablo 4 and Final Fantasy 14. I don't need a keyboard or a mouse.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Having trouble running new games with my current PC

For either build you can get Windows for cheap. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/get-windows-10-free-or-cheap,5717.html I've used these before and they work well.

The dual SSD is so you have the 512GB for OS/Applications and the 2TB for games.

You might be pointed away from the likes of Cyberpower and Ibuypower.

Leaving names like Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Asus. I'm not sure if those outfits offer PCs for "gaming" per se rather than for general use. You may have to compromise more than you'd like to.

I don't know what you can get for 2500 CAD, but you'd certainly be better off spending 2000 CAD on your own choice of parts and 500 CAD to someone to assemble it. Maybe even 1500 CAD parts, 500 CAD assembly, and keep 500 CAD in your pocket unspent. Don't know how difficult it might be to find the assembler.

Pre-builts tend to be lower end on power supplies and cooling and overcharge for upgrades like stronger CPU, more RAM and larger drives.

@Gorrath call around to local mom & pops PC/laptop repair shops and find out how much they will charge to build you a PC if you bring them the components. This way you know exactly what you're getting. With that said the RTX 4070, 4060 Ti and 4060 are due for release next month. Check sites such as this one for the reviews and pricing on those cards.

With that said the RTX 4070, 4060 Ti and 4060 are due for release next month.

Expected launch prices for the 4060 is $400-500 US. That ends up being $550-685 CA. That can make things a bit tighter especially if performance of the 4060 is only that of the 3070/6700XT. Granted it would allow DLS3.

You might be correct but until those cards are released and the reviews come out all we have to go on for now are assumptions.

For 400-500, at least in the USA the rx 6800 non xt is available.

If we assume the performance of the 4060 is say at 3060ti or 3070 levels, a card like the 6800 should be around a 3070ti.

After some thinking, I feel like I should stick with the custom PC but was wondering if you could modify you advice based on those 2 changes:

Budget Range: 2500.00$ CAD
kinda wants something a bit more powerful and 2000.00$ won't be enough, Thanks to COVID lol

Just noticed there's one of those in my area so I could buy all the parts there and have them build it for me and based on the suggested parts above, they seem to have good price on parts.
I'm gonna pay a bit more overall but it's gonna be a lot less hassle.

Place holder for 7800X3D. AM5 option with quality components.

You can get a cheaper build if you go with 12th gen intel, but AM5 will leave you the option to upgrade in the future. If you go for 7800X, it will again be within 2500CAD, but i suggest going for the 7800X3D

It will put you a bit over budget but the Dell monitor from above is a good choice with this system. I cannot find a good AMD alternative within the $2500 budget AND getting a good monitor with the limitations of using Canada Computers.
